Breast Reduction. The best decision. Do it.

Breast Reduction. The best decision. Do it.

WORTH IT
I have had very large breasts forever. I can remember in junior high I would rest them on the lab bench in my science class to take a load off. They were heavy and got in the way. I felt like people did not take me seriously because of them. Finding clothes that fit right was difficult. Finding bras ... laughable.

So I spoke to m OBGYN last fall about them and she said I was a candidate to have insurance cover the cost of the reduction!! I live in California and have Kaiser. I had to pay copays for Dr appointments, lab work, ekg, and prescriptions. I think all in I paid about $500. So ... talk to your physician and see if insurance will cover it. Way better than the $15000 that I had been looking at if I was going to pay for it on my own.

They removed over a pound from the smaller breast and about a pound and a half from the larger one. They significantly reduced the size of my areolas - yay! I am 4 weeks out from surgery today and I could not be happier. They are not identical, but they never were. They are so much smaller and I love them.

I had to learn to sleep on my back. I bought a wedge pillow on Amazon and I'm just using that without a pillow and have been successfully sleeping on my back for the first time ever.

Dr. Phillips was awesome. He and his team were great. I periodically reach out to his PA and she has been so helpful when I am concerned about anything. I.e. one of the nipples was darker than the other (purple instead of pink) she told me to get some DMSO cream on Amazon and put that on the nipple daily. It worked and the nipple is pink like the other one.

I am impatient about the results. They told me that the healing and swelling would need 3-4 months before I really know exactly what size they are and not to go out and buy new fancy bras until then. I did buy some inexpensive bralettes because the bras the DR provided are so high up my chest that I cannot wear a V neck.

I look at clothing all the time. Think about all the things that I'm going to be able to wear! Strapless! Spaghetti straps! Off the shoulder! Cute bras! Cute bathing suits.

There has been pain. I have been limited in what I can do. I totally feel like it was worth it and I do not even know what the final outcome will be. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the suggestion. Every time I've inquired about insurance covering my surgery with plastic surgeons I've been discouraged. They'll say that insurance requires a specific volume be removed to consider the procedure non cosmetic. Did your surgeon have a similar requirement? My current insurance claims they don't but again a surgeon told me 1000 ccs or it would be denied after the fact. I'm going to now go through my gynecologist as well.
My doctor did not say that any specific volume needed to be removed. My OBGYN referred me to plastic surgery. She had a list of questions that she went through to determine if I qualified. had back issues, indentations on my shoulders, self confidence issues, trouble finding clothes that fit. Based on those questions I was given the referral. I met with the surgeon and he came formed that I was a candidate for surgery. They ran tests to verify my over all health including assessing BMI. Once all of that was done we went forward with the surgery. He asked me what size I would want to be. I asked for a c/d cup and that is exactly where I am now that I am 4 months post surgery. I don’t know the CCs that were removed. They told me in grams. They removed 750+ grams from one and 500+ grams from the other.
How many men did you give breast implants
Did you manage to get any pictures of the pre-op markings? Or side profile?
