Drains Out!

Drains came out today...the right side barely qualified as they wanted under a certain amount for 3 days, and it just barely cooperated. The stitches on the underside still need to come out, but Dr wants to wait a couple weeks.
My nipples are ultra sensitive, as in little breeze accross them makes me uncomfortable. Dr says that is better than the alternative and should hopefully start to calm down over the next few weeks.
My homework for the next week or so is to change out my tape. I've also been cleared to wear any bra without underwire.
Lastly, found out that 2lbs were removed from each breast in the reduction!!

This is so helpful! I'm a 34HH and have just been approved for a medically necessitated breast reduction. My surgeon said she wants to remove approximately 2 pounds (900 grams) from each side but couldn't give me an estimated cup size post reduction. I'd do back flips (without pain!) if I got C's!! Congrats, lady! I hope it's as life-changing as I think it would be!

I just found out that the grams removed depends if the breast tissue they remove is dense or fatty breast tissue. Depending on those factors, that could make a difference if two pounds equals one or two cup sizes.

My nipples are ultra sensitive too and overall my breast feel like the skin is taunt and sensitive, like when you get a bad sun burn is the best way to describe the pain. I keep looking at these "after" pics in 6 days to 2 weeks and every one seems to look more "forward" than I do. I feel like my breast tissue is more side to side, not much sticks out in the front. It will be 3 weeks on Tuesday since my surgery, going from a 36/38 H down to what he believes will be a full C, small D....but I still cannot tell. I am still so swollen under my arms that the tissue there sticks out almost as far as my breast tissue do (forward) I don't look good in clothing at all yet and I'm trying not to be concerned, but everybody else seems to look better than I do. My doc. told me before surgery that my breast would look "boxy" for up to about 4 months...........has anybody else had that experience? I'm trying not to worry, after all what's done is done. My neck pain from the breast weight is completely gone, which was the reason I had the surgery to begin with. But, it sure is hard to look at myself when I'm dressed and feel like I have like a size A-B breast size. He says not to worry, it will happen as the tissue settles in to place. Anybody else have this same experience?

Don't worry, lovely. You are on the right track to recovery. I could swear mine looked like a b cup at first but as I look at them from week to week, they change. As they settle, you will see your true breast size. Right now they are firm because of the breast and scar tissue. They will soften and settle. You will be fine and that pain you're experiencing is the skin around the incision and what has been changed within the breast. Stay hydrated and keep the incision areas well cleaned and moisturized with some Neosporin pain and itch relief ointment that has the scar treatment in it. The more hydrated you are, the more your skin will flex as you move. Keep the incision area well moisturized to keep the tension at Bay when you move. Most people have that boxy look at first. Have you seen mine, lol.

48H post surgery. Such a huge difference.

Still quite a bit of drainage, so the drains probably won't come out until Thursday at the earliest.

So far, not too much pain, just super sore and tender. Taking anti-nausea with my Hydrocodone every 6H and Robaxin between. Starting to try to go longer between taking all meds (would like to wean off of them soon, but will let my body tell me)

Day of treatment

Already feel lighter

Surgery took ~2.5H, woke up from anesthesia about 15 min afterwards, and on my way home an hour after that.
Definitely nauseated, I believe it is from the Exparel :/ Threw up all liquids when we got home.
Right now, the left is more swollen and the right is draining more (I ended up needing the drains...good thing my sister and I are close. Haha). The pain was pretty bad coming out of anesthesia - I have a high pain tolerance, so it was interesting to need to ask for more pain management. I've written out a medicine log so that I can stay on top of managing the pain, which is tolerable as of now.
Overall, happy right now to feel lighter!!

Did they give you an anti nausea medication?

Yes, before and afterwards. The only difference between this sx and my ankle reconstruction 8 wks ago is the Exparel

My doctor wrote me a prescription for Zofran. So if any of my meds made me nauseated, I would take the Zofran with that medication .

Congratulations... I hope everything goes well with your procedure. Did you show your surgeon a picture of what you wanted them to look like?

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow! Aside from picking up meds, arranging things to be counter-height, etc, I will say that meal-prepping helped immensely. Nothing fancy, just simple things that are easy to reheat.
