WORTH IT$5,200
From being ostracized during my equestrian days, to dealing with the pain of running marathons (weight of girls, bouncing, sores/rubs), to trying to figure out what bathing suits won't make me look like I'm trying to make money, this is something that I've been dreaming of for almost 20 years. Who'd have guessed that I would have my consulte on 6/27, been approved by insurance on 7/1, and scheduled for surgery on 7/12?!?! Especially after insurance took over 4wks last time just to mark me as unapproved.

Pros: beautiful office, courteous office staff, and great "bedside manner" from Dr.Chang

Cons: pre surgery registration...didn't expect it to take over an hour. Oh well, everything is done (hospital fee paid, forms signed, pre-anesthesia nurse visit completed, etc.). So I just have to show up and try to not think about the immediate post-surgery pain, but focus on what I will gain with this :)

36F to ?? For the sake of the activities I enjoy, I would like to be full B/small C. We will see soon...

Good luck! You will never* regret having this done. My post-surgery pain wasn't bad, so try not to worry. :)

Thanks! I keep envisioning the cute "normal-sized" bathing suits I will be able to wear next year ;) Might even be able to hit up the sales at the end of this season.

Were you told what to have ready when you get home? Bandages, bras etc? I finally have one last consult this Friday. My first and only consult was first of may, i think..anyways... I'm a watching!

Yes ma'am!

Bandages & Bras: they will be sending me home with extra bandages and my post-op bra. I asked about other bras and they said not to get another one until the swelling had gone down a little, it which point they would have a coupe recommendations in the $15 range :)

OTC Meds: Colace & MiraLax (constipation after anesthesia and pain meds is real!) and Benadryl (for itching/swelling - have seen lots of reviews on RS claim that they is a life-saver)

Rx: Anti-Nausea, muscle relaxer, antibiotic, and pain meds --> picking up this afternoon. I am very sensitive to pain meds (become overly nauseated), so opted to not be prescribed Percocet; definitely worth a discussion with the doctor if you are worried.

I also asked about silicone gel/strips, they will give to me at my 2nd post-op (when the stitches are removed).

Lastly, there are quite a few medications that you will need to steer clear of 2wks beforehand - Fish oil, Vit E, anti-inflammatories, etc. You can take Tylenol, if needed. I had to switch to this as I am still 8wks post ankle reconstruction.

Good luck!

Terrific lists! I got some light sleeping bras for later. Didn't go by cup but band size. Hard truth for me is no matter of breast surgery.. It won't make me petite!!! LoL i will still be a plus size model, dang it! LoL, i have been this sizes for 20ish years... So..it is what it is!

One More Sleep :O

I can't believe my surgery is tomorrow morning! They moved up my time from noon to 7:30a, which I'm happier with as I didn't want to sit around and wait ;)

I will be picking up the last of my Rx meds this afternoon, along with a bar of Lever 2000 (I was told to scrub with this around the chest area with my shower beforehand). Had to resist the temptation to shave the pits - lessen the chance of an infected nick near the surgical area.

Now to finish moving items to the ground-floor bed/bath within easy reach and complete meal prepping for the weekend so my hubby and sister don't have to worry too much.

I remember exactly how you felt on the eve of such a life changing experience! I am 9 days post surgery now. What I would suggest is to get everything down to a lower level of the shelf that you might need....lifting your arms will be VERY hard and restricted for a long time. Expect sleep to be difficult and have multiple pillows available. TAKE your pain meds...on time, don't be a super warrior, just take the meds. It does hurt, and the soreness is more than I expected, but tolerable. Just be okay with yourself being tired, hurting, needing to be babied, and even a little emotional. One other thing, no one warned me that I might have burning in my incisions and I did pretty severe the first day. But, again, the pain meds controlled it, just don't be worried that it isn't normal. Prayers for a calm in the morning and a good outcome. There are plenty of us on this journey with you....... God bless.

Thank you!

Thanks to the suggestions/reviews by people like you on here, I've already gotten things high and low to counter height :)

Will have to keep reminding myself to not be a "super warrior." Having had ankle reconstruction 8wks ago (drilled into bone, etc), I know I can be hard-headed about trying to do too much.

Did you have drains? My doctor said I am a 50-50 chance of having them.

How much are you able to move around?

Already feel lighter

Surgery took ~2.5H, woke up from anesthesia about 15 min afterwards, and on my way home an hour after that.
Definitely nauseated, I believe it is from the Exparel :/ Threw up all liquids when we got home.
Right now, the left is more swollen and the right is draining more (I ended up needing the drains...good thing my sister and I are close. Haha). The pain was pretty bad coming out of anesthesia - I have a high pain tolerance, so it was interesting to need to ask for more pain management. I've written out a medicine log so that I can stay on top of managing the pain, which is tolerable as of now.
Overall, happy right now to feel lighter!!

Yes, before and afterwards. The only difference between this sx and my ankle reconstruction 8 wks ago is the Exparel

My doctor wrote me a prescription for Zofran. So if any of my meds made me nauseated, I would take the Zofran with that medication .

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow! Aside from picking up meds, arranging things to be counter-height, etc, I will say that meal-prepping helped immensely. Nothing fancy, just simple things that are easy to reheat.
