WORTH IT
Hi everyone! I’m a little late to the review game, but happy to be here! I guess I will give a little back story.
Similar to others I started developing very early I was a DD in middle school and always thought i was much larger than the average girl.
I have wanted a reduction for about 2-3 years after discovering it was a thing! I hadn’t know about it until then! I had terrible back pain and my boobs looked like the pendulum on a grandfather clock, and felt like the sagged all the way to Timbuktu. (Maybe slight exaggeration but ¯\_(?)_/¯)
Rewind to about a year and a half ago i moved for college, and I worked with a girl who had a reduction and she said it was the best decision of he life, and I knew it was what I wanted.
I talked with my mom and she said if it’s what I wanted we would look into! (Got blessed with such a great support system) well when I left for college my primary care practitioner suggested birth control which I don’t want. It caused me to gain almost 50lbs. At this point I knew I was too overweight for insurance to cover the reduction.
So i decided to go off the BC go to the nutritionist and get the back weight off! Before losing weight I went to a professional bra shop and found out i want a 34DDD but in fact a 32H. At this moment I realized i was really apart of the large and in charge club. Well $200 and 2 bras later I was onto my fitness journey that proved to be challenging with my overly large chesticles.
Well I ended up losing the 50lbs and I still wasn’t in the correct BMI but lucky for me the nutritionist did a complete body scan every weigh in and each time my body fat percentage decreased even if my eight increased from water weight or muscle. I personally think this helped when it came to dealing with insurance.
Well fast forward to 3 months ago. Mom gave me the go ahead to start looking into it. And i definitely dove right in. I bought a plane ticket home for the summer, called my insurance and asked what I needed to do, and they said because i have an HMO i had to have someone in network. Well i looked dolls and fell in love with a surgeon that after doing further research I realized I couldn’t have because he wasn’t in network and was a cash only surgeon ($22,000 is not in a college students budget, that’s a year of tuition!).
Little add in! Right before leaving to come I went to the bra store again and was remeasured at the same size, 32H. Meaning weight loss had no affect on the size of my boobs.
I did have to jump through some hoops. As i searched in network I found an amazing surgeon and did some finagling to make sure I could have him (I changed my PCP so I would be in that particular HMO medical group, an option I had because it was an HMO and I was allowed to change my PCP). That was hoop #1. Hoop #2 was that i was required to receive a specialist referral from my PCP. So I had to convince her that I needed a referral. She as very helpful and accommodating and it took a week to get an approval. Hoop #3 required me to have blood work done to make sure the weight wasn’t attributed to anything other than BC and the lack of weight to anything other than fitness related things.
Well I’m happy to say insurance did approve the surgery! And they approved the reduction, lift, and liposuction for my upper armpit.
This post will include weight loss photos and before reduction pictures!

Day 3 Post Op

Let me start by saying day 2 was the worst! Very sore from having to sleep on my back, I used some essential oils for the middle of my back, an it felt amazing.
Secondly, drains suck. They don’t hurt so much as they are annoying. I know they are necessary so I am rolling with the punches.
I also haven’t seen anyone else on here who has had vac. I was given a vac instead of a surgery bra. That being said, I have been able to sponge bathe since day one and have been able to see the shape and size since day one. The vac is like plastic wrap that is constantly being resucked to my skin via a battery operated vacuum. While it’s extra tubes, it’s definitely been worth it. I’ve also been told by my surgeon that I will be able to begin scar therapy after the vac is removed on Thursday. Which for me is a major benefit.
I wish I would have gotten pictures day 1 and yesterday because they were lot more swollen. But I wasn’t feeling up to it.
after surgery I was very lucky I didn’t feel nauseated or uncomfortable. I also have not taken anything other than acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain. Even directly after surgery I requested no narcotics.
Any ways today is day 3 and i was able to get up and down by myself and walk around without my parents worrying. I’m feeling sore but between the essential oils and ice pack I feel quite a bit better.
I’m very happy with the size and i should be around a full C.
Putting in some photos from now!

I’m feeling good. Today was a good day napped for a good portion and managed to go 9hrs without pain meds so I’m feeling very good about that. Hoping i don’t feel out of energy tomorrow but really happy with my progress!

Awesome glad to hear your pain is minimal. You have to share with the RS community how to get this surgery for $100.00 . I know it would be so helpful to others that may be struggling with back /shoulder pain, digging bra straps and or just breast to large for their frame.
