I'm 59 yrs old healthy women and I had breast reduction surgery June 21 2022. I had Necrosis by July 4,2022, underwent surgery again to remove necrosis from Both breast July 15.22 Got infected somehow or somewhere. Still in pain and being treated for wounds by wound care nurse and doctors. Would I do again with all these complications heck NO! 3 months still taking pain meds for the debilitating pain in my breast, I cry every night from nerve pain and change my dressings daily for these ugly wounds after removal of necrosis and infections. The doctors are helpful and don't know why this happen to me! I'm miserable and hope to heal by end of year!!!

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I know how you feel. I went through this with a tummy tuck. I had an open wound for six months. I went to a wound care center once a week for debridement. I also did 30 hyperbaric chamber treatments. In my case, it was neglect on the doctor's part. Too much skin was cut away leaving too much tension on the incision so it opened within the first 36 to 48 hours. I'm not saying that was the case with your doctor. I know that wounds opening is just one of the risks to getting surgery. I think whenever there's a T junction there's a risk of it opening. The wound heal process can be very daunting. It can be very slow. But just remember that eventually you are going to heal. You might want to consider joining a wound support group. I know there used to be one on Facebook. It helped me not feel so alone. Sending you lots of healing prayers. Hang in there.

My doctor used staples to close the anchor incision. I wonder if the stitches caused necrosis? It's a big wound to heal with a stitches alone maybe?
