One year post op

I’m updating on my one year breast reduction surgery showing how they look with the scars faded. I never got the imperfections fixed because life happened but they definitely let me know some things that needed to be fixed.

Wish I Would've Done This Sooner!

I have been on this journey ever since the summer between 8th and 9th grade when my boobs grew overnight. They grew into DDD’s by the time I went to college. The neverending stares or comments from people were annoying. I didn’t want these and I dang sure didn’t want the attention that they granted me. Fast forward to the age of 39, I visited 4 doctors for consults to have a breast reduction. None of them sat right with me except for one. When I went for my first meeting with Dr. Horndeski, he was very thorough in his explanation of his method, pictures included. He seemed very proud of his work and very confident he could get me to where I wanted to be. The thing that stuck with me about our meeting is his mathematical equation process, which made perfect sense instead of eyeballing how they should look. None of the other doctors did anything like this. I read the reviews about him and people say his bedside manner is not their favorite. I will say this, I would rather have someone who is straight to the point and not all warm and fuzzy that does an amazing job, than someone who wants to hold my hand and butchers my boobs. My pre-op appointment went smoothly, I went in to pay, get my instructions and prescriptions and left. Surgery Day! (05/03/2023) - My husband drove me to the surgical center where we waited to be called back. I had to do a urine test and it was off to the surgical table. Dr. Horndeski drew all over my chest and used his software to determine what we were doing. I had to lay on the table, get up, lay on the table, get up and then lay back down for the last time. The nursing staff at the center were so kind. I’m so nervous when it comes to needles so they talked to me and told me stories. They put me under and the next thing I know I was waking up with everything done. Word of advice, bring your own saltines and 7up because theirs was nasty. They started going over the discharge instructions and going over the drains when my husband was standing up walking to the other side of the bed, he passed out, hit his head and they had to rush him to the emergency room (luckily, thanks to the staff, he’s doing great) needless to say it was very eventful for us. So they decided we couldn’t leave and the staff took great care of me until another family member could come get me and they transferred my husband to another hospital that could take better care of him. He was discharged the day after. During all of this Dr. Horndeski and his PA, came back to the surgery center to check on my husband, which was incredibly kind of them to do. Day after surgery - My mother took me to my post op appointment where Dr. Horndeski took the bandages off and put my bra on. The car ride didn’t hurt a bit which was nice since it’s an hour to my home from his office. I was able to take a shower after this which made me feel so much better. 4 days after surgery - The drains came out and I felt so much better with them out. I was able to wash my own hair and keep up with my own pain meds and muscle relaxers. I am now 3 weeks out posting about my experience. I’m so glad that I went with Dr. Horndeski, I think he did a beautiful job. Yes, there’s a couple small things that are fixable, I have a dog ear on one side and a dent that is supposed to pop out when the suture dissolves but all in all they still look a hundred times better than the doctors that use the vertical scar method. I am able to do most things except reach my arms over my head or smoosh my boobs down. I have two kids and one of them doesn’t realize to not hug me hard because my boobs are still healing. All in all I should’ve done this sooner but I’m glad it’s done and according to the doc, they should continue to look better and more round. So far I went from a 38DDD to a 38D, I might end up being a C by the end of the healing process. I am so incredibly happy with Dr. Horndeski and I will recommend him to anyone who asks me about my experience. As far as the bad reviews go, some are ridiculous since they didn’t even have surgery. I researched all the things about him and found those reviews to be false. Don’t take everything you read as law, do your own due diligence and let the photos speak for themselves. RealSelf is not letting me upload all of my photos, I'm going to post this review and try and upload them in the comments.

One of the Best Decisions of my Life!

Backstory: My breasts grew overnight the summer between 8th and 9th grade. At first I loved them but then slowly I began to hate them. They grew to be bigger than a 38DDD but I refused to buy bigger bras and they would spill over giving me quad boobs. I couldn’t run, jump on a trampoline with my kids, hop, or just do anything that would jiggle the girls and draw attention. They became such a pain as I aged and slowly they began to sag. My body is not terribly huge and it was always so hard to find clothes to fit due to how big the girls were. I’d have to order a size 14 dress so it would be big in the tummy area, don’t get me started on swimsuit sets, I’d have to buy two different sizes and pay double so I could piece together the top and bottom.

I met with several different breast doctors before deciding to go with Dr. Horndeski. I read all the bad reviews and good reviews. I love how there are so many patient pictures on this website. The one thing I loved is the consistency with how well they all turned out. I think not having a vertical scar really does something aesthetically. I met with Dr. Horndeski and I immediately knew I wanted him to do my surgery. He’s not a kiss your butt and all warm and fuzzy person. He reminds of a super smart person that has a hard time socially so he talks fast and doesn’t have things linger. He answered all of my questions and he stepped the process out for me. I told him I’d sleep on my decision and the next day I called and scheduled my appointment.

I went for my preop two days before the procedure and got my meds, post op packet, made payment and got everything ready at home.

Surgery Day: my husband and I got to the surgery center bright and early to do bloodwork and get all checked in. The surgery goes for 4 to 5 hours. The staff of the airy center was amazing. The doc did all of his software calculations and drawings all over my boobs and then I was whisked away for treatment. The next thing I knew I was waking up in post op.

Post Op: I’m 2.5 weeks out of surgery writing this review. I needed help the first 5 days. Had my husband wash my hair and help me in the shower. I slept a ton in a gravity chair and had everything I needed next to me on a table but it was easy to get up and down if I stayed on top of all my meds consistently. My steristrips came off at the two week mark. I had drains that come out on the 5 day mark. The part of my underboob that looks like a hole isn’t. There is a stitch internally that breaks and that comes down eventually. I’m able to fit in a 38D and I might end up in a C cup but time will tell. There is still bruising but Arnica has been my best friend for getting rid of that.
