I COULD CRY. Just Kidding, I Already Have!!

Tears of joy, I couldn’t be happier with my choice of surgeon. I’ve been researching this procedure and countless surgeons since I was 18 (currently 32) and finally built up the courage and finances to go through with it. And I truly don’t know what took me so long.
I’m 3 days post op and yes it’s painful, yes anesthesia sucked and I was nauseous and dizzy for a full day afterwards but also- I immediately felt the weight off of my chest. The ever apparent knots in my neck and back from the 32H’s I was carrying around I swear are already loosening. I’m honestly not even sure how many grams were taken out since Dr. Van Pelt had a goal of 500 on my left and 600 or so on my right and she took out more than she thought she’d be able to.
She was open and honest with me about the state of my skin and how for aesthetic purposes we might have to do the full anchor style incision (while still performing the Spair style technique as far as the internal workings, do your research if it doesn’t gross you out- it’s very intriguing!) for the sake of the shape and smoothness of the stitches, and while that did disappoint me a bit because the Spair technique is main reason I consulted with her to begin with, I also completely understood and trusted her judgement knowing she just wanted the best results possible. After all, I had a very large, stretched out, and imperfect canvas to work with!!
Estimating a full C size cup once all is said and done and healed. I’ll definitely post more along the road of recovery, but as of right now I’m one happy girl and I highly recommend this skilled surgeon.

Healing well, still feel run down but better every day. Tried on an old dress this morning, things are higher and in different places now so I was wondering if it would show too much. It’s a very wide and low cut top but nope, just fits perfectly now and with no bra! love it. So worth it. Tried on my old 32DDD bras and they actually fit properly in the cup so I bet once the swelling goes down more I’ll be a 32d-dd or 34c-d. I have a small rib cage compared to the rest of my body (which you couldn’t see before the reduction lol) so it all depends on the band… They said 6 weeks before I should buy anything new so I’m impatiently waiting for the day!

Do you mind me asking the price? You're looking magnificent btw

Thank you! So far $2500 but I haven’t received all of the bills from the hospital yet. It was thankfully covered by my insurance but I have a high out-of-pocket to meet so until I get all the bills I didn’t want to post the amount.

Did you get implants as well? Your results are perfect. I've been building up the courage to get a reduction for years and I'm finally going through with it in early 2022. Hour before photos are pretty much inline with the size and shape of mine now.

Glad to hear you’re getting a reduction! I know it takes a lot to consider such a procedure but I can tell you I’m 100% glad I went through with it! No implants for me, they’re still quite swollen in these photos and my surgeon was able to make them very perky but they’re settling better every day in a more natural position. I’ll post another update soon, they’re looking a little less full on top but still more than I’ve ever had before!

Good to know, I'm 2 weeks post op just down sized and loving my lifted - perky C cups!

Not much to update on, doing good! Weight restrictions are lifted which is great, but being more sedentary for a month hasn’t done my waistline any good- can’t wait to get back to fully working out and pushing my limits like I used to now that sports bras will fit me! Left breast is looking a little higher and bigger than the right but I feel like it just has more settling to do shape wise. At my markup my surgeon told me they might look uneven for a while since my mammary fold on the left is naturally about 1/2 inch higher than the right. I’m sure what I’m seeing now is exactly what she was warning me about. I’ve been using scaraway silicone gel just to try, I don’t recommend because there’s not much product in the tube. I ordered Avene cicalfate+ scar gel by my surgeons recommendation, I’ll use it religiously once I receive it and post an update in about a month.

Erin, Did the PS put any drains in? I think I found my surgeon...finally. I have been looking for years!!! Like the SPAIR method with the full anchor. I won't be able to get mine for a year or so -- need to recoup from financial loss from the pandemic. Plus it will cost me more since I will be flying in from out of state. So glad you posted--it really was so informative, gave me direction an inspired me. I will be calling your PS soon to see how travelling in works. Thank you

Just wanted to make sure you got notified for my comment below responding to you- I forgot to press reply! :)

Wonderful! Glad to be of any help! No drains for me, but they did show me how to use them if they ended up being necessary. If it’s a larger reduction like over 1000 grams from each breast, they said it’s more common to have drains placed. But it also just depends on each person and what they see in surgery.
I stayed in a hotel the night of the surgery as well, since I live a couple hours away from Grand Rapids- Hampton Inn, it was almost $300 to book a room for one night but when my husband checked us in he mentioned that we were staying because of a surgery and they had a special discounted rate for that. It ended up being around $100 instead. So keep that in mind and it might save you a little :)

Thank you so much for your reply and the additional education. I am learning SO much from you! I hope you don't mind me occasionally asking you questions every now and then. I like your perspective. I will be crying too when I get mine done. Your results are awesome. So very happy for you!

You’re very welcome! No I don’t mind at all! I’ve found this whole process to be educational as well so any info I have I’ll gladly pass on! I went back and forth deciding whether or not to make this post because well… it’s my naked body haha but I know so many other women contemplate getting this procedure and I figure the more that people are open about it, the better it is for future patients.

Did you get implants or just a lift? They look great!

Hi, I’m finding one side is higher and the other is lower and larger after my breast reduction. I’m almost 7 weeks post. Did yours end up evening out or did you need a revision?
September 18, 2021
Mine have evened a bit but please give it time! 7 weeks is nothing after such a big surgery. It’s been 2.5 months since mine and I STILL have bruising on my right side and swelling on my left. 6 months out seems to be the healing peak, judge from there. If they’re still off then definitely go back to your dr (you should have an appointment already for 6 months out) and ask about it. They won’t be able to do anything till about a year after the initial surgery anyway. Happy healing!!
