I’m officially cleared to resume all activity! I’m very pleased with the results and healing has gone well. I’ve started using mederma for the scars and aquafor after showers.

Wow such a difference Jsledge! And you get to exercise - woo hoo! How was he bra shopping???
April 3, 2019
It was crazy. I ended up getting two one was a 40C and 42B. I tried wearing one yesterday and managed about 30 minutes before my incisions decided they had had enough.

Those are my “sister sizes”! I’m a size 38D (AUS size 16D). Its amazing isn’t it? How small you feel! Had an appointment today - Righty has healed, but the skin is pretty thin and fragile- so I have what’s basically an oversized waterproof bandaid on it now. Just to make sure my post surgery bra doesn’t rub and wreck the new skin.

That’s great that righty finally got on board with healing! How long until you can wear sports bras and not the post op bra? It was such a relief to be freed from bras. I was cleared last week to wear or not wear it. And sleeping without a bra has been amazing. Well the first night was ridiculous. I woke up so sore.

I’m okay to wear any wire-free bra now. My post bra is very a very lightweight, stretchy racer-back number - really comfy - so I’ve just kept wearing it! I normally take it off and go bra-less after work, and then put on a different one (same style) when I go to bed. I haven’t been brave enough to not wear one to sleep in yet!

Sleeping bra less was very weird to start with and my incisions burned when I woke up. Like I had done an intense chest workout. But it was so dang freeing. And as of last week I can sleep on my stomach.

Braless and on your tummy - look at you go, all back to normal! I picked up a couple of bras that were on sale today. They had underwires, so I just carefully unpicked the stitching and took the wires out! Voila - a pretty, lacy bralette!
April 6, 2019
So smart. I was only able to last 20 mins in an underwire bra. My incisions are just not ready.

One month update

jsledge
Went in for my 4 week follow up this morning. My right boob is doing amazing. Lefty is still slightly problematic. I have to keep up with the antibiotic cream and dressing changes twice a day for the next two weeks until the spot on the T section closes. I’m cleared for walking in the gym but no sweaty workouts and still no lifting for the next month. I also got the go ahead to start scar cream everything but the open spot. Next follow up in a month. Happy healing

Wow, righty really does look fabulous - and your lefty has really come along and is almost there, yay you! Well done on all the hard work you’ve put in with your dressings. You must be relieved to be almost healed. Good news about the exercise too - what are you going to start off doing?
February 27, 2019
I’m literally only cleared to walk. No sweat. No getting hot. So last night I walked for 25 minutes and only did a quarter of a mile. And that is killing me because before surgery I was working out lifting heavy six days a week. I know I will get back to it but right now I have to focus on NOT pushing too hard. I cleaned my lefty last night and added some steri strips to help close it. Hopefully that will help. How is your righty doing?
February 28, 2019
I had righty redressed by the nurse this afternoon and after only 2 days it looked a bit better around the edges. The silver she’s using on it now seems to be a winner. I know what you mean about missing exercise - I spent 12 mths before surgery losing 23 kgs / 50 lbs in the gym, getting ready for surgery. Now I’m worried about losing my mojo and ruining my good work!
February 28, 2019
Our mojo will come back. We just had MAJOR surgery. It takes a toll on your body. Baby steps to get back to it. I did another night of just walking and it seems to help and wipes me out after. But don’t worry we will get back to it.
March 1, 2019
Yeah, you’re right. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I actually slept through the night last night!
March 1, 2019
That’s great! My lefty has finally closed and no longer oozing like it was. Thank god! I also picked up the mederma to start today.
March 1, 2019
Yay, it will feel so good I’m sure to being able to do something ‘positive’ to help your healing and scars - looking forward to that part!
March 1, 2019
Lotion was my best friend this morning! Lizard skin boobs need to go! Lol
March 2, 2019
It’s amazing how dry your skin gets isn’t it? Probably to do with the anaesthetic. My hairdresser said losing hair is also pretty normal after a GA.
March 2, 2019
Yes! Also your color can turn out wonky. I lost a good fist full after surgery.
March 4, 2019
When can you sleep on your stomach again? I can’t find an answer!!!
March 4, 2019
I think it’s one of those individual things. I’ll ask the nurse tomorrow though and perhaps she can give me n average timeframe???
March 4, 2019
Thanks. My doctor gave me a general “not for another month or more” comment when I asked at my 3 week appointment.
March 5, 2019
Sounds right. Today the nurse said post-6 weeks, after the stitches have dissolved. She said if it hurts - don’t do it!

Second follow up

jsledge
My doctor is super pleased with how the infection is healing up. All my stitches came out this week. I feel so much better with them gone. I can actually scrub-ish on the chest and get rid of some of the dead skin. I picked a couple scabs off the infected boob because moist is better for the antibiotic cream to help heal. And they look super irritated but it’s getting better. I’m cleared for light duty and part time at work after 20 days of recovery. I went shopping yesterday and I paid for over doing it. So take it easy! Back to bed and resting.

How’s the healing going Jsledge? And how was work?
February 25, 2019
Going ok. The infection has resolved so far and I have my next follow up tomorrow morning. I’m hoping he says everything is looking good. I still have a small spot that’s open but he said it looked ok last week just a normal complication but not bad. Work has wiped me out everyday. I just come home and crash everyday. How are you recovering?
February 26, 2019
That’s good news about the infection! I hear you about being exhausted after work, and I’m mostly sitting down, not standing up moving my arms a lot like you. I’ve just updated my review with some photos - having an issue with separation on righty. It’ll get better though, just need to be patient I’m sure.
February 27, 2019
I can tell from the 1st picture that your shape is becoming quite cute! Good luck with your healing. Even though you are still a bit raw from the delayed healing, it must feel so good to get that weight of your chest.
