Breast Reduction and lift from DD to ??

WORTH IT

I’m going on for my BR and reduction with Dr Semple in Toronto morning. This site has been so helpful in calming my nerves and understanding what to expect so I wanted to pass it on! Luckily I am covered in Canada for the surgery but I have paid an additional $2500 for flank liposuction. I he been on the fence for a long time and had to push my February date due to a biopsy for cyst (came back negative thankfully) but it’s finally happening. I have been self conscious about the asymmetry which seems to have gotten more pronounced. I do not want too much taken out, but to have more balanced, lifted breasts. My mom died of Breast cancer and I’ve worked hard to separate those difficult memories with what I’m choosing to do but sometimes I freak out a little bit. I will post more tomorrow but for now I’m working on keeping myself calm. I’m going to have lasagna for dinner and try and get in the bath and have an early night. Who knows if I will sleep!!!

Surgery is done! Day 1 update.

moll541
I’m at at 5:30am to update. Slept about 6-7 hours but sleeping on my back has been worst part so far!!
Surgery was yesterday morning at 9am but when I got there the nurse said 11am so there was some confusion because when I went back to the pre op area at 830 I was wondering why the anesthesiologist was coming in already. I was happier to go anyway in the end. The whole process other than that was so smooth. Since I didn’t know what to expect from the day, here is a bullet point summary:
-7:30 arrive at hospital with bf and sister
- got into hospital clothes which were quite comfy
- got vitals and given a couple of Tylenol and an anti inflammatory
- went back out to my fam for fifteen mins but through back to pre op area
- sat in chair w warm blanket until doctor came in
- got marked up and discussed size, I am going from a DD to a C as I am 5’7 and 145 lbs and I wanted to stay a bit fuller
- anesthesiologist come in and v quickly put in IV line while a nurse confirmed what I was getting done (bilateral reduction and lift plus flank lipo)
- then a few mins later we walked into OR which was the most intimidating part and lay with my arms wide open. As anesthesiologist started his drip Dr. Semple rubbed my shoulder which was very nice and we had a few jokes
- took less than three inhales from the gas mask and was lights out... I was so impressed w how quickly I was out!
Post op:
- have a vague memory of vomiting at some post but can’t remember
- started to wake up and a nice male nurse was sitting there and I think I was complaining about pain so he gave me some more of whatever drip
- didn’t really feel pain but pressure and only my left breast (which had less taken out) had a few sharp pains
- I hung out there drinking ginger ale and waited for my sister who came and filled my Rx
- doctor came back and said it went very well and was done in less than an hour!! Will ask at pre op but he only took out 120 ccs or something.
- got dressed w help of another male nurse who was trying to be discreet w me changing but i truly could not care less lol
- I have no drains, but have thing bandages over nipples and incisions. Will try to post pic later but they have some leaking on them so wasn’t sure if it was to gross lol
- dr told me ok to wear my sports bra but nurse said he’s not sure if I’m supposed to? But I told him the dr said... so I’ve been wearing nonstop
- coming home was no problem, didn’t feel sick. Had a smoothie and some crackers which my dog kept trying to steal
- first day at home pretty seamless. Feel burning and random pains in left breast but not as bad as I thought
- sleeping sucks and hence why I’m typing this so early. Moved to the couch. My wedge pillow is late to be delivered but gonna try that tomorrow.
- i also woke up v stiff and sore primarily where the lipo was done. Kind of feels like the most intense workout of your life or like you got kicked in the ribs!
I’ll post more later but after a few months and almost year waffling about this and being terrified, the experience thus far has been great. I’m sure I’ll freak out next week when I see incisions but for now it’s manageable.

Thank you for sharing this story with us. Reading people stories seems to make my anxiety manageable. I am also a DD. I am 5.2 + 125 lb I'm trying to decide do I want to go a full B or a Low C, but I think that's where I kind of want to be sometimes it's hard looking at other women's breasts but the fact that you're a double D and going down even if our weight and height are different it kind of gives me a more reassuring thought of the size I'm looking for. I can't wait to see more pics I will be following you my surgery is June 14th can't wait...

it’s hard to decide. I mean when I look down they seem big still but for me I was most wanting them to be symmetrical. I tried to take a pic sans sports bra this morning but I got a bit lightheaded so I’ll have to try again tomorrow

Day 3 - a little tougher

moll541
For some reason today I’m not feeling the best. I’m not totally sure if I should be wearing my sports bra or not. I feel like I was out of it post surgery when I was talking to my doctor. The pamphlets I have say I can wear the bra but I’m worried it’s too tight or pressing on my incisions under my boob. Any time I’ve tried to take off the bra, I get very nauseous and lightheaded. Maybe it’s just the blood going to that area that has been compressed?
I’m also feeling more sleepy, a bit nauseous and getting some chills. I only took a few very small doses of the oxy so not sure if it’s related to that or not.
I finally did have a bowel movement which was good after I took a stool softener last night.
Has anyone felt the same dizziness or lightheaded when they removed the bra? I’m trying to take a photo but just can’t do it at the moment.

I had lovely, soft, front-fastening (hook & eye) post-surgery bras made from bamboo with absolutely no seams and a deepish knitted-on band to go over the incisions. Mine were by a company called Theya but I’m in the UK. You could try googling post-surgery bras? Mine were so gentle and comforting that I thoroughly recommend trying to find ones like them. They were only moderately compressing but that didn’t seem to make much difference - I didn’t really have much swelling and I went from an F cup to a B! I tried a sports bra after a few weeks and couldn’t face it - it seemed so brutal compared with the post-surgery bras

thank you so much! I will look them up on amazon!

I had my surgery jan 26, 2018... I had nausea and vomiting for one week! Some of us are sensitive to the anesthetic, and I can’t tolerate narcotics. I also had problems with the surgical bra cutting into my incisions, so I took it off for a week...my surgeon wasn’t too concerned but his nurse said if I could find a bra I can wear it would help with the pain from all the swelling I had...I finally found a couple of soft bralettes. Around week 4 or so,mi started running low grade temperatures alternating between being cold, and then too hot...the surgeon said I didn’t have an infection, I was just in a hyper metabolism state, and it was normal. I am into my 7th week now, and the crazy swelling is just starting to decrease. For me, this has been a rough road, and out of the 8 surgeries I have had, only 2 were worse than this recovery. I see the light at the end of the tunnel finally, and the advice and encouragement from the ladies on here were what got me through.

sounds like it’s been a bumpy ride for you but hopefully it is starting to get easier! I’m also getting warm and cold so good to know... !
