Surgery Day!
WORTH IT
Hi everyone! Sorry it's taken me so long to update! I had issues with insurance and I needed to see a hematologist since I bleed a lot, so I thought my surgery might be postponed. But we got it all figured out and I had the surgery today, one day after I graduated from college!
I didn't have to report to the surgery center until 1:30pm and I didn't actually go into the operating room until almost 4:00pm, so as of right now, the worst part was by far going 24 hours without food. I woke up at 4:30am today, which meant I spent most of my day trying to kill time.
But besides the long wait, everything else went great! Maybe it's because the meds haven't quite worn off yet, but I am not in crazy amounts of pain. I have to pee at least twice an hour, but I have a bladder condition that is definitely not helping that.
So anyway! My surgery day went a little like this:
We showed up at the center and waited about a half an hour before being brought back in the room.
I changed and did a pregnancy test.
I was given the compression things for my legs, and then a little while later I got the IV. After that I was waiting for a long time before the doctor came to do the markups, I was given an antibiotic, and I met with the anesthesiologist. Despite the hunger, the wait wasn't too bad because the room had a TV, and since I don't have cable at home it was nice to watch ESPN lol.
Then I was brought back to the OR and put under!
I honestly have no recollection getting dressed and honestly everything is pretty fuzzy from the time I woke up until I got to the car. A nurse must have helped me get dressed and go to the bathroom because my mom and sister weren't there yet.
Once I got home I ate (finally) and took it easy. The doctor called to check on me which was nice. I'm not in any crazy amounts of pain, although I feel I should add I have a very high pain tolerance--I didn't even take pain meds after my last surgery. I do have to pee a lot and changing the bandages was a little scary as there was a lot of blood.
I was given a post surgical bra but told after a few days I can switch to sports bras if they have enough compression. I've been dying for a Nike sports bra since middle school so I cannot wait until its time to buy that.
Sorry if this is jumbled and I'll update more tomorrow!

Here are some more pictures where you can see how out of proportion my boobs are. These were taken before I lost some weight but my boobs haven't gotten any smaller anyway. 70 days left and I couldn't be more excited!

Thanks for posting more photos. I’m THINK I’m of a similar proportion but I’m still in the fence. Could you post a ‘before’ without a top? At least once it’s done so I can compare? Thank you so much! And good luck!
Your big day is so close, are you all set for surgery?

“You know, Sierra, right? The little one with the big boobs?”
From seventh grade on, this is how I was identified. I started wearing bras at around age ten, and by middle school was a DD cup.I eventually grew to a 30E, and now thanks to the help of progesterone based birth that I’ll be on indefinitely to help combat endometriosis, I am wearing a 30G.
A lot of people have asked me how I came to the decision to have a breast reduction and the truth is there was no decision. I’ve always wanted one. Finally, years of not being able to do the workouts I like and wearing dresses that either made me look much heavier than I am or made me look like I was at a bachelorette party in Vegas, with no alternative, I scheduled a consultation. At the time of my first consultation (February 2018), I weighed about 135 pounds (I’m 5’0).
Because my breast tissue is extremely dense (my doctor told me it is the densest she’s ever seen), I had to get a mammogram. They found a mass, which meant more mammograms, two ultrasounds, and a biopsy. It ended up being a fibroadenoma, which is a noncancerous tumor. This was an additional expense, and not to mention a very scary experience, that I was not expecting.
The initial doctor's office I went to was good, but they kept submitting the paperwork wrong to insurance, which caused my insurance company to deny coverage for my surgery. After several months of this, I decided to switch doctors. My new doctors office is amazing and worked with the insurance company’s ridiculous demands to get my surgery covered. As I am in my last semester of college that requires a full time internship, we decided to wait until after I graduate before I have the surgery so that I’ll have plenty of time to recover without worrying about missing school.
My surgery is May 20th and I couldn’t be more excited. Since my initial consultation last year I’ve lost 15 pounds (but unfortunately nothing in my boobs), and I look forward to working out for the next four months to get my body to how I want it to be before my surgery! I’ll report back closer to the date.

Do you have any updated pictures of your weight loss? How much do you weigh now? How much did you weigh before?
