Week 3 the big reveal
Finally the dressings were coming off hooray!! Bit sore when they were taken off and felt more comfortable when the compression bra went back on. Very pleased with the result. Nipples were fine plenty of blood supply. Symmetry was good scars were healing nicely. Apparently I’d been glued as well as stitched and was told not to rub the glue. I could now shower - FABULUSS!! I could also drive yay!!
My only criticism was that I had a lot of side boob but I was still swollen and bruised so can’t tell properly yet. Have to wait at least six months to get more idea.
Journey home was very sore and uncomfortable. After all the wishing for the dressings to be removed I now wished they were back on!
First shower was the best ever!! Had to go in backwards so the water wasn’t pounding on my chest but at last I could wash my hair myself and I felt so clean.
The warm water was really soothing but I didn’t linger too long as the wounds shouldn’t be soaked.
Driving was great I have automatic and power steering but turning my head to reverse was difficult. I wore a padded coat so the seat belt didn’t rub.
Disappointed to still be on pain meds in the mornings after waking but just too uncomfortable without

Week 2
Fairly uneventful. Bit boring as couldn’t do anything other than go for a walk each day. Still on pain meds as just feeling uncomfortable and a bit sore. Worst was getting from lying propped up on pillows to standing as the shift in weight onto the scars made me wince. At the end of the week tried to have a shallow bath as beginning to feel unclean after just strip washing for 2 weeks. Getting in was ok but put a strain on my arms. Getting out was not good - had to manoeuvre onto my knees to get up and the large bath towel was too heavy to hold. However it was so nice to wash myself properly even if it was only the lower half. Couldnt wait to get the dressings off and see what was going on.
Day 7
Tried to stop the pain meds today. I had been gradually reducing them so decided to do without the breakfast and mid morning ones. By lunchtime I was really sore and uncomfortable so went back to the Nurofen. We sold our settee today so there was nowhere to sit and our new suite was not due for another week. I retired to bed for the afternoon and slept for a couple of hours. Felt so much better. Well one week after the op I am feeling a little better each day but still sore and still getting shooting pains usually in the sides of the breast as the nerves reconnect. I still need to take it easy, rest, get a little walking exercise, not lift anything or put my arms over my head and NOT fiddle with dressings etc. Will update again in a week when hopefully I will be able to be off the meds. My dressings are going to be changed in another 10 days so I can then see the scars properly - until then I will just have to be patient (which is the hardest bit of the recovery really) Good luck if you are considering this procedure. Mine has been ok so far and the backache relief was immediate. Hoping the grooves in my shoulders might get better over time and the horrible rashes underneath my boobs are banished forever.
