Still no relief!!

Unfortunately, I don’t think my rash was a yeast rash because it just isn’t responding to Diflucan or Nystatin. My PS called me in a Rx for Hydroxyzine and told me to stop all ointments over the weekend and “let the girls breathe” as much as possible. I’m really, really hoping I can feel some relief soon. The itching is so annoying, and the rash just won’t go away. I will add a few photos so you can see what I’m taking about. I can *maybe* see a little improvement in the rash when I look at the photos.

Ugh, no fun update!

So that really persistent, itchy rash ended up being a yeast rash from overusing Neosporin and Bacitracin. Who even knew this was a thing???? I had no idea! I was being super diligent in applying the ointment...probably too diligent...and I've been through a few tubes of ointment since surgery, which explains it. PS started me on Diflucan and Nystatin cream today. I'm really hoping it clears up soon! Beware: do not use too much antibiotic ointment post-op! ;-)

One month appt

I went to my one month post-op appointment yesterday (3/8/18), and my surgeon was super pleased with my progress so far. I had three stitches poking out (one underneath each areola and one along the left side of my ribcage), and the nurse had to pull them with sterile tweezers (OUCH!!!!) and clip them so they would retract back inside. That was unpleasant to say the least, BUT my surgeon said my scarring looks amazing. Normally, he recommends scar treatments around this time, but he was so pleased with my progress, he didn’t think I needed to use anything at all. The nurse told me that based on my skin tone, the vertical incisions should barely be visible once 100% healed. Yay!

Other than that, I’m feeling okay and trying to push myself to do a little more each day. I’m still super sore on the outer parts of my incisions (near my armpits), and now my incisions are starting to itch like crazy!!! OMG, it has been the WORST! I’m taking Benadryl to try to help, but the itching is awful. I’m hoping it’s temporary.

Anyway, I was so glad to have such an encouraging appointment with my surgeon. I’ll see him again in 3 months for post-op pics...which gives me 3 months to lose a little more weight, too! ????

Overall rating

I have been so pleased with my experience with Dr. Stokes and his entire office staff. Through every step of my breast reduction journey: from initial consultation to actual surgery and now through recovery, they have truly cared for me as a patient and person. When I’ve had concerns during the healing process, they’ve responded in a timely manner and even looked at pictures and responded via text to help ease my mind and provide at-home guidance and care instructions. I could not have asked for a better surgeon or experience, and I look forward to continuing my relationship with this practice as I progress through my recovery. I am SO pleased with my results, and most importantly, I am PAIN FREE! This surgery has already improved my quality of life. I couldn’t be happier!
