I've struggled with PCOS since I was a teen and with uncontrollable weight gain came huge breasts. I have lost 80lbs and now have breasts too large for my frame causing huge discomfort emotional and physical. I am only 5ft 1 and weigh 135lbs. I've wanted this procedure done for the last 8 years and now I'm finally in a position in my life to afford a reduction and lift and am currently out of work so don't need to take the time off. I met with Dr. Karen Horton for a consultation last month and was so enamoured by her kindness, confident relaxed nature and patience I booked as soon as I could. I am due for my procedure on November 4th and couldn't be more excited. Naturally I am nervous but more for the recovery process than second guessing the operation. I have a great husband and fantastic family/friends who are happy to support me on this journey! Looking forward to being able to work out and stay fit/get off excess weight, wear cheaper/more fashionable bras and swimsuits and even have the option not to wear one or even something backless! I've been in heavy sweaters my whole life and am looking forward to having a more fun and youthful appearance.

Arrived at the hospital 2 hours before operation with my husband and were welcomed into a quiet ward with friendly nurses who checked blood pressure/softly put in IV/urine sample etc. I had my prescribed Ativan before getting to the hospital so wasn’t feeling too nervous when I was wheeled into theatre. Pre Op I met with Dr. Horton, my Nurse and Anesthesiologist who all again assured me all was going to be fine. Dr Horton was playing Dean Martin as requested and held my hand until I drifted off. She is such a kind and tender woman. Next thing I knew I was already awake and in recovery! Stayed over night and was very well looked after, only some discomfort, drugs were constant and great.

Day after

After an night of on and off sleep (not too much discomfort but not pleasant) I was discharged from the hospital and taken home by my husband after all of observations were fine. Bandaged tightly and definitely more painful as the day goes on. More ache like you’ve been kicked in the ribs and chest rather than intense sharp pain which for me is a lot more bearable. I am taking Keflex for 5 days, Ativan for Anxiety and Percocets for the pain. Seems to be taking the edge off. I’ve been told to walk for 30 mins slowly each day as helps with recovery. Can’t see much yet but the weight off my neck and back already is so gratifying. Bandages taken off/changed on Friday. Looking forward to it!
