How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

Phenomenal Surgeon, Phenomenal Heart
Because of a gene mutation that put me at high risk for breast cancer, I decided to have prophylactic double mastectomies and breast reconstruction. I spent the better part of a year researching my options and meeting with surgeons. Even though I was aware I was very lucky to be doing this preventatively, and not under the duress of having cancer, I still found it to be a stressful and challenging process. I was so nervous about how my breasts would look and feel afterwards, I wasn't sure that I was making the right decision about the reconstruction method. I was overwhelmed by all the information to digest.
Then I met Dr. Orringer. I knew he had done Angelina Jolie's breast reconstruction, so I assumed he may not have time for a normal person like me. I could not have been more wrong. During our first meeting, Dr. Orringer spent almost two hours talking with me and my husband, showing us photos, explaining his process and answering every question - of which we had many. His office had closed an hour earlier when we finally left. I got into the car and burst into tears. I felt listened to, cared for, and respected, and I couldn't imagine going through this process with anyone else.
For SGAP flap surgery, all the surgeons I met with work in teams of two. Dr. Orringer works in tandem with another very talented surgeon, Dr. Scott Sullivan, who founded the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery in New Orleans. The surgery was an almost 11 hour process of harvesting tissue from my hip, creating a breast and connecting blood vessels under a microscope. I'm still in the healing process, but I can tell you that anyone who has seen my new breasts is shocked at how good they look. I do not look like I've had a mastectomy. The scars I have on my chest are underneath my breasts, which are hardly visible. I actually look better than I did before, from both surgical sites. Two different nurses in the hospital told me they didn't have to ask who my surgeon was- they could tell from looking at my breasts that it was Dr. Orringer, because "he's the best." And they are absolutely right.
Every week, my husband and I see Dr. Orringer every week for follow up appts, and he is always incredibly kind and caring. You can tell that he loves helping women and he adores his patients. He always talks about how privileged he is to get to do this work, and thats exactly how I feel, so privileged to be his patient. If you are considering a breast reconstruction, I highly recommend meeting with him. It is one of the best decisions I've ever made.
