Research Before You Leap

Decided to have immediate breast reconstruction after double mastectomy with lymph node removal with implants as PS told me that was my only option. I developed burning pain day 3 that progressively worsened for which PS said there was no medical explanation. I could not withstand the expanders and no longer wanted implants. I developed seromas because PS took drains out too soon. Expanders shifted and slowly tore my mid chest skin away from the muscles. PS wasn't even present during post op visit as he was in surgery and a nurse sent him pics of me. He wanted to expand me to 3/4 my original double G size when I asked for much smaller breasts. I thought he rushed the process by trying to inflate me 250 ml per visit in order to try to get me back on the OR table within 2-3 weeks for the permanent implants. When I said I no longer wanted implants, he left in the textured expanders and told me, "BTW, these can cause cancer, so get somewhere soon." Even though board certified, research all of your options. Get more than one PS opinion. I now have to travel out of state to try to rescue what is left of my breasts and hope I haven't developed cancer or damaged the tissue from within due to the textured expanders.

So, first PS did skin sparing mastectomy cuz he intended to make me 3/4 the size I was, when I asked to be almost f Kim at, just not concave. When implants failed and went to 2nd PS fir tissue transfer, again stressing wanting to be almost completely flat, I ended up 1.5 inches bigger around than before my mastectomy. He told me "I had to make you that big because you had skin sparing mastectomy". It is like I have no rights to my own breasts. I am ready to chop them off myself! 2nd PS also put me at risk as I developed an infection he chose not to culture. I now gave rolls in my abdomen and it measures larger around than before tissue transfer months ago. I had medical reasons for wanting to go almost completely flat. Going larger puts me at high risk for needing brain/spinal surgery. I would rather lose the breasts and be comfortable. They are sooo heavy and smother my pect muscles. I cant wear tops big enough to hide them, or pants large enough that dont hurt my abdomen. Women, beware - and do your research!
