Breast reconstruction Diep flap

A Year Later Update

So it’s been a year and the volume is good in Diep flap breast however I still miss my Nipple and wish I had maybe a different type of surgery to prevent its loss. There was no disease in it so could have done something differently. Had the asymmetry surgery carried out which was great to get done. Bit of scarring but it’ll subside with time. I don’t think I’ll ever feel good about my body again . This journey has been very difficult and even though I’m grateful for them saving my life with the surgery nothing will ever be the same again. People underestimate surgery and scars. Don’t make decisions lightly.

Diep flap reconstruction

Still healing slowly but it’s getting there. After care is good putting my mind at ease about scars . Asymmetry being addressed and second surgery arranged to fix that. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The team at St Vincent’s private excellent.

Diep flap Dublin

This is six months later. Still have to go through radiation so I’m really upset about the state of reconstructed breast. I don’t think I got the best option for me. It was oversold on the outcomes and I’m not sure the team were qualified. I wish I had gotten a second opinion probably a different hospital.
