A Compassionate Surgeon I Fully Trust

I honestly cannot express how grateful I am for Dr. DeFazio. He is not only a highly skilled surgeon, but also kind, compassionate, patient, and supportive. During and even after my time battling cancer, he consistently took the time to listen, sit with me, explain what to expect, and answer my questions more than once when I needed reassurance.

His surgical skill is truly exceptional. As a member of several groups for women battling the same cancer, TNBC, I have seen photos and read stories about surgeries and outcomes that were heartbreaking. I am beyond pleased with the results of my surgeries and feel incredibly fortunate to have been in his care.

I trust him, and that does not come lightly. During my DIEP procedure, one side appeared usable on imaging but turned out not to be once he was in surgery. Instead of relying only on the technology or forcing the process, he tested the flap, recognized that it could cause problems, and communicated with my husband in the waiting room. I believe that decision saved me from unnecessary complications, pain, and additional surgeries.

I could share countless examples of calling the after-hours line and never once being made to feel like I was bothering him or taking time away from his family. My cancer treatment journey came with several complications, including infections, hospital stays, scars, unexpected setbacks, and insurance nightmares, and through all of it, Dr. DeFazio and his office showed up for me. His office staff is phenomenal, and they truly went to battle on my behalf when insurance issues became overwhelming. Y’all, let these ladies work. They know what they are doing, and they will take care of you.

I highly recommend Dr. DeFazio. Do your own research, of course, but know that he is truly on your side.
