Disappointing Customer Service and Results

Disclaimer: to anyone reading this, know this is a 100% real review regardless of alias. For reasons of confidentiality I will not disclose legal name however I think it is necessary to share this experience in efforts to shame unprofessionalism.

I want to start off by saying I am completely appalled and disgusted by the level of disregard and unprofessionalism. I originally had surgery may of 2021 for a mastopexy breast lift and reduction. I was told that I was a candidate for the procedure initially and that results should be effective. Although surgery is a risk and there is never a 100% for success, the surgeon, dr. Hankins, assured me that his surgical technique should contribute to favorable results. I was told to wear my garments consistently for two-three months and then after that I could revert back to my normal lifestyle without garments. I was told this by Jean, the receptionist who at times is inarticulate,

I made every appointment and communicated with Jean and dr. Hankins consistently and followed instructions. Five months after surgery my results drastically changed (undesirable results) and while the dr. offered to redo the surgery, the price charged was the equivalent to the initial procedure. Per my follow up appointment the dr. told me my skin type was horrible which was really insulting and unprofessional especially as a women of color. The dr. did not elaborate on my skin type causing him to come across very tone def, vague and unprofessional.

Still very proactive and determined to make the most out of my results I called the dr.’s office to inquire about an alternative in efforts to improve aesthetic of treated area. Jean was agreeable and assured me that the dr. would be interested therefore we set an appointment. The appointment was oct. 21st of this year. I was so disappointed and disgusted by how rude the dr. and Jean were.

Firstly, the dr. was 20-30 minutes late in seeing me. This is not the first time staff was late or had to reschedule my appointment. After the assistant called me to the examination room, I still had to wait at least another 10 min. Finally dr. Hankins was ready and we begin to examine my results . As I was talking to dr. Hankins, staff freely opened and closed the doors while I was unrobed and exposed. Jean eventually would enter the room and at that time we begin to speak about the alternative procedure. Jean was so rude as she would interject and interrupt me several times because she didn’t agree with the alternative that I suggested, which was confusing to me because she was previously agreeable. Jean looked at me with such a rude attitude and eventually walked out while I was speaking leaving the door opened as I was exposed from the waist up.

I was so appalled with the level of disrespect. Even though the dr. agreed to do the complementary procedure due to the miscommunication of post care instructions as well as undesired results, I was already turned off. I felt the dr. was rude and unprofessional because he did very little to correct the behavior of his assistant nor did he apologize . After she left he attempted to reason with me but came across as demeaning .

I would not recommend and if you are alone going through this journey I would recommend recording all conversations via phone and in person for accountability. Per the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Medical Specialties, the dr. is not board certified therefore I would recommend going to a board certified surgeon!

I absolutely love my consultation and visits with Dr. Hankins , he is certainly a perfectionist. Every facet of my experience with Dr. Hankins has been seamless and I couldn’t have asked for a better doctor!
