Worst consultation with Mr Ottaviani from transform ????

WORTH IT$7,600
Had my consultation with this doctor from transform in Newcastle and I must say it was the worse consultation I have ever had in my life!! He basically told me what he was gonna me started to jot in down in my notes when I refused the mastopexy due to me being scared of scaring, instead of reassuring me he will do is best to make my scarring minimal he rudely said take it or leave it. I was shocked on how abrupt he was. He denied any ideas I had to avoid as much scaring told me I couldn’t go bigger but way smaller than I am now. Was a mess of consultation. When I asked questions he huffed and puffed and even rolled his eyes and the thing that knocked the whole thing out the park was that he asked me what I wanted and before I even had the chance to answer he says and I quote “ I can’t create miracles!!!” I honestly got that upset that I walked out the consultation room in tears and refused to allow that man cut my chest open... we had no connection. He had no interest in what i wanted or had to say but I felt that all he saw was pound signs with no care about his patient
The co ordinator after all this, bless her was absolutely lovely! She totally listened to me and said she could have me see someone else and to be honest I had read about this surgeon and deep down would prefer this other surgeon. Hopefully this new surgeon Mr Clarke who I will see on the 13-02-2018 will be more comforting and understanding. Keep you guys updated

Hi there, I just read your update below and very sorry you had a bad experience with that PS. Unfortunately some doctors can be very arrogant. Even though they may be speaking the truth... it’s their delivery that can be a turn off.
In any case I wanted to share some thoughts. First of all I’m assuming the pics you posted are not yours (but of another patient you thought would be a good example) . One thing I will tell you about those pics is they appear to be taken fairly shortly after surgery when incisions usually look their best. Scars usually dont’t darken (or turn puffy) until 1 to 3 months post surgically (everyone’s a little different). This is referred to as the “angry phase” of scar healing. From that point on it usually takes anywhere from 12 to 16 months for them to gradually fade and to see the final result. So the point I’m trying to make is the pics you found may not necessarily be a reflection of with that patients final result was. And that’s usually the case with many pics in most PS’s portfolios.
The next thing I want to tell you is that if you want you have nice scars that are barely visible (after they’ve fully healed) look for a surgeon that does flawless incision work. That’s one thing that many plastic surgeons do not tell their patients; the neater and more precise their incision work is the better your scars will heal. Of course the other factors include your genetics, health and after care ( including scar therapy). I traveled for my breast lift for this very reason;. I wanted a surgeon that not only had a good aesthetic eye, but also a known reputation for dong excellent flawless incision work. Lastly I also want to mention that the smaller the implant the less weight/stress it will put on your incisions which can affect the overall healing process of them. In fact some people do the surgery into steps allowing the incisions to heal with as less trauma as possible.
Btw I went through the same experience as you before my BL/BA. I was very concerned about scars; not to mention I’m half Asian with a genetic pre- disposition for hypertrophic scars. However if you have much ptosis (like I did) a full anchor lift will really give you the best results, imo. If you’re interested in checking out my results click on my profile name and scroll the page to find my “shape over size - breast lift with implants” review. Mind you I’m still in the healing process and still have a ways to go before my scars are at their best; But I feel like I got a head start due to the excellent incision work that my PS did.
Just curious if you have any of your own before pics to share? Also do know that you can delete pictures here if you want to. That’s one of the few things you can edit here ( in addition to editing the title of your review). You may want to post them here as well as in the “ask a doctor” section to get opinions on what type procedure you may need. Good luck and wishing you the best! :-)

ah thanks for the reply.... yeah those pics was from a website with girls praising the surgeon. I definitely know that my scaring could be different and all that and that’s what scares me. at the moment my implants are capsulated and my only option really whilst getting a replacement is to have a uplift to have them looking good. the other surgeon I didn’t really have a connection with has had a couple of his clients go to the newspapers complaining of lopsided breast and that instantly put me off. I love how you have gave me all that information. thanks a lot xx

My before pics

These are almost 11 years old and they became capsulated 6 months after giving birth to my twins. They don’t hurt, I don’t like the look of them like this and they are hard as rocks. I’ve also included a pic of my incision scars from both breast. I’m hoping I will get the similar look if I have to have the full mastopexy.

Hi again, based on your bef pics it looks like you have capsular contracture Baker grade III or IV. This is not intended to be a diagnosis since I’m not an M.D. You may want to post some pics in the “ask a doctor” section here for some professional opinions. I also had minor capsular contracture (Baker grade II) in my right breast. My PS treated it by completely removing the scar tissue (capsulectomy) and replacing the implant. Thankfully it hasn’t returned.
Just curious do you know what type/size implants you have now? Also did you decide to stick with Dr. Ottaviana? The reason I’m asking is because his name is attached to the top of your journal here; and in your last update you mentioned about going to a second consultation. Was that with a different surgeon? If you decide to go with a different PS (plastic surgeon) you should send an email to contactus@realself.com and asked them to remove Dr Ottaviani’s name from your journal.
By the way choosing the right surgeon is the most important decision you can make here. As you may be aware breast lift surgery is one of the most complicated surgeries out there; it also has an extremely high revision right. Needless to say this is the one surgery that you don’t want to be price shopping. I actually spent more time researching the PS consulted with than I did on the actual procedure itself. Good luck with your decision! :-)
