Hi there, I'm preparing to have the same surgery as you! Every doctor I've consulted with so far has suggested a lift on one side, and an implant on the other. Could you update with how everything is going for you?
Hi there! Very exciting for you :) this was the best decision I've ever made, it has boosted my self confidence so much. I'm about to go in for my 5 month post-op appointment actually! Everything has healed very nicely, I couldn't be happier. Good luck!
To jessicasarah21: I'm really happy you are happy, and I'm also very happy, even after a year and being an "older" person. Good luck with your new body! I wish I could have done this when I was young, but the fat transter technique didn't exist then. Better late than never! :-)
thanks so much for responding! :) my main concern about an implant on only one side is that each side will feel/look really different (i.e., look or feel "fake" somehow). do you feel like it's noticeable? would also love to see how your scars are healing! my surgeon said that scars on fair skin tend to fade pretty nicely but i know there are no guarantees.
No worries! I had the same concern initially as well. At first, they do feel a little different but as they heal I feel like they have started to feel much more natural and similar :) friends and my boyfriend have had a feel and don't feel much of a difference haha. I have a motiva ergonomix implant, my surgeon recommended this as it is one of the more natural ones you can get and falls with the natural breast shape. I have been told that they will most likely age slightly differently, the non-implant breast may sag a little more as the implant tends to hold its shape well. But honestly... I'm totally ok with that. It's a small price to pay for the huge self image overhaul this has given me! My scars are still a little red 5 months post op but have faded considerably (will try and put some photos up tonight!) Note that you have to tape them for a couple months so the scars don't become too raised. My surgeon also recommended a roll on silicon Bepanthen treatment which promotes scar healing. Im using this twice a day :) hope this helps!!
Hi! Thanks for your question. I had the fat transfer technique. Many doctors may not be trained in the technique of fat transfer, and therefore suggest something they CAN do (!!!). I could have had an implant when I was 25 years old, but did NOT want a this "fake" option - I'm a "natural" kind of girl. so I'm so glad I didn't! An implant eventually needs to be replaced - maybe 15-20 years later. The breast tissue is damaged with the implant. You can bet that eventually there will need to be ex-plant situation, and the "replant" (or serious "deflation"!) Some people opt for a fat transfer then. My doctor was Sarah Mess in Columbia, MD. She is a skilled artist. Highly recommended if you can travel - I think you would be happy, but you decide. (BWI is about 20 mins away from the practice with many hotel options nearby in Jessup, for example). She can do a very "basic consultation" - a general opinion/approx. cost - if you want to send her an email with some photos. Personally, I opted NOT to have a lift on one side, though this was discussed (only for the larger side). My breasts were not too saggy, even considering my age - I’m (a young) 58 now. The side with the fat transfer has a totally natural feel, but very, very slightly firmer (I wish I could have had this done when I was younger!!!) . I don't care because they seem so natural! They are pretty symmetrical - too, though maybe only 95% “perfect”. Ironically, the transfer side is slightly larger than my left side now I'm ok with that). I’d say this is a judgement call, but I strongly feel fat transfer is the way to go. Another option is to do a fat transfer to one side now, see how you like the results after 6 months, then do the lift if you think you need it. It would involve 2 procedures though... Another couple of details: I had J-Platzy/Renuvion treatment to the lipo-suctioned areas. My abdomen is smooth. She also did a small tummy tuck (after the "shelf" of childbirth x2). I’m thrilled I can fill my bra evenly now, and hubby likes it too. :-) I wish you the best with making the right choice for you. Let me know how it goes!
Hi. Sorry I didn't see this before! See response above.
