Consultation review: It was very awkward and I will not be returning.

Not a Great Experience

$26,000

I went in for a consult for a breast lift and augmentation and felt like Dr. Schlesinger did not even listen to my wants and expectations. I did not feel comfortable with him and thankfully my husband was present in the room with me. I repeatedly told him how important it was to me to be able to breastfeed again and he did not seem to grasp that.

The entry site he wanted to perform the surgery would eliminate all chances of me trying to nurse. He was not willing to use another entry site either. I was also uncomfortable that when I tried the implants on for sizing, he shoved the implants down into the bra instead of allowing me to put them in myself. This was very weird for me because all of the other consults with other Drs I have had allowed me to put the implants in myself.

Also, I felt like he was pressuring me to go bigger than I wanted to. I tried to take the bra and implants off and but instead, he made me sit during the remainder of the consult with the implants on. Also, I did not like that he wanted me to do a lift first and then wait 6 months to get the implants in.

I do not want to go under the knife twice when it could be done in one procedure. It was very awkward and I will not be returning.

Response from Dr. Schlesinger:
Any breast procedure will risk a mother’s ability to nurse. Pregnancy can alter breasts, so patients are encouraged to wait to enhance their breasts until after childbirth. We advise patients to approach breast lift and augmentation separately. Often patients find a lift achieves the look they desire without the expense of an implant. All consults are attended by female staff. The sizers we use are difficult to place, but I will offer patients the opportunity to place them going forward.

What a very very polite and professional response to a very rude ill-faithed review. Kudos, Dr Larry.
