Mastopexy augmentation wound issue possible bottoming out
$13,094
First of wound issue and now it appears The lower crease Incision/scar is now migrating upward and I wonder if I am bottoming out. I see my PS on Monday. I have read that this can happen sometimes and a scar revision can be done but I will not see the doctor besides following up on postop and I doubt I can afford the doctors on Botched.
ORIGINAL POST
Breast Lift W/implants Wound Issue
I had a breast lift and augmentation followed by two days of hyperbaric treatment. It was very difficult to climb through this collapsing canvas tunnel right after having surgery and I wonder if it contributed to the following. I followed directions to the “T”. Two days after my breast lift and augmentation I was told to remove my bandages and shower for the first time. There were blood sacs where the anchor incision intersected so I sent photos to my PS. He said the compression bra was probably too tight and I should switch to a sports bra (which I ordered and started wearing 2 days later) and start using DMSO cream. 20 days later the anchor vertical scar started to die and it had a terrible smell. The doctor said the DMSO cream he told me to use was keeping it too moist and to stop using it and he trimmed some of the dead skin and over the next three weeks I went through the horrifying experience of the entire wound breaking down.as he kept trimming dead skin and I started applying saline gauze bandages 3 Xs a day that I had to remove once they were dry to debride the dead skin. 4 1/2 months of bandages later the open wound was not raw and bleeding and I was able to stop the bandages. In all of the investigation I did prior to surgery I had never heard of this happening this extreme. But now that I have experienced it I find out it happens in about 10% of these procedures and I hope this will help people see what could possibly happen. I’m still healing but now I feel like the breasts have lost their shape and flattening on the bottom due to the lift incision failing. They put silicone Natrelle Inspira SoftTouch 375cc in my larger left breast and 405cc in my smaller right breast but the sizes are still noticeably different and look flat and bulging laterally. I regret that the before pictures do not show the actual nipple so you could tell that there is some improvement and I am happy with how they look in my clothes but not how they look naked. I know they will continue to heal and I will be discussing with the PS what scar cream to use. Do you feel like they are sitting properly for 5 months out? Should I leave well enough alone since only my husband will see these scars and things will continue to heal? It’s hard to believe that the surgical bra I was given to wear contributes to this causing circulation issues and then the cream I was told to use made it even worse.

I would get a second opinion from another doctor. Do not go back to him. For what you paid the results are unacceptable. Good luck.
Agreed!
I’m only doing postop for now and want to ask a question to the PS on here but it says I can’t ask a question if my procedure is less than six months ago but yet I see Q&As talking about how they had a procedure weeks ago. I’ll post in Q&A in a few weeks but they all tend to be very politically correct and just refer you back to your plastic surgeon.
Who was your surgery with?
Dr. Frederick W. Ehret
MD. He said this issue isn’t his fault or mine, it can just happen.

Well... SOMEBODY gave you a compression bra that was too tight. And in my opinion, it's that person's fault. That person is most likely hired by the Dr, so I would say it's the doctor's fault. He said it was caused by the compression bra, right? That's not just "something that happens". I call BS.
It definitely sent mixed messages because when he had me remove my own bandages two days after surgery and he didn’t see me until five days afterwards I had sent him pictures of the two day point when I could tell there was a problem and that’s when he called me and said it looks like your compression bra is probably too tight and told me to switch to a regular sports bra and then told me to start using DMSO cream and later said that also was keeping things too moist. It’s very frustrating that I followed everything he said and this happened. And then I’m supposed to pay $2000 for a graft and trust there won’t be issues with that!? And he states that his service is free but just paying for the facility that he owns and the anesthesiologist and I just passed on it and decided to heal on my own.
