Hello everyone! Found this lovely group today and wanted to join in the experience. I’m up for surgery on the 26th of this month. I have already picked my surgeon, his name is Dr. Mandell-Brown and he’s from Cincinnati,OH. I’m getting an Anchor incision lift with saline implants. I’m hoping to go at least 1,000cc but if they will cause problems or be too much In the way I will go less. I’m hoping that this review will help out the ladies going bigger. I have been searching and the biggest I found was 800cc silicone. I’m not really nervous yet, I’m just so excited!! Hubby promised me when we were done with babies I could get my boobs done and then a tummy tuck. Doc said it would be too much at first so we are doing the boobs first then tuck sometime at the end of the year. I will keep posting updates and pictures as this journey progresses. My only fear right now is prolly the scaring from the lift. I have seen great and it so great results on here. I know everyone is different, I just really hope my body does well.

Thank you for your comment. You can’t see it very well, but I have so much skin left over on the bottom behind my breast. I also have a very wide breast base. This was one of my concerns too, but he said that I have plenty of skin to work with.

Hi!!!! You must be so, so excited about your upcoming surgery. I had my surgery a year ago in January!!! Such an amazing experience. Make sure you are careful about the size you choose. I know you have probably thought a lot about this,,but you don't want to go too big, or too small. Just make sure you are sure so that you are 100% happy with your results. Im actually a 32DDD with 520CC silicone. Im 5'6" and 125lbs. Im very, very happy with the size I chose. Im looking forward to following your results. Honestly this was one of the best things I've done. I hope your experience is like that as well!! Take care!

Thank you for your comment! I’m really hoping my experience will be awesome. I’m so glad to see someone else went big too! I’m already very wide chested and with a lot of extra skin. So my implant will have to be big to start with to fill everything in even with the lift. I love your user name btw. Your the one that made me want to make my name fun too. So thank you! And I didn’t realize that we weren’t suppose to use our pic for the profile pic lol. So I guess I’m not very anonymous:) but yes please stay in touch definitely!! :)

do you have any pictures from then that you can show me?? When did you go to him??

If you don’t mind me chiming in I do agree with Tessa951 in that you should be careful about who you choose to do your BL surgery. And (imo) choosing a PS that specializes in breast lift surgery is crucial. Breast lift surgery (especially combined with implants) is one of the most complicated surgeries out there and it has an extremely high revision right. I probably spent more time researching the PS’s I consulted with then I did on the actual procedure itself. I chose a 5 star board breast surgeon that has well over 150 reviews, has done thousands of these procedures with many before after pics to show. This is not the surgery to be price shopping, imo. If Tessa does not respond you may want to take the time to read all your PS’s reviews. When I do my research I start with the lowest review rating. It’s my opinion that negative reviews (or reviews that have no star ratings) are a red flag. I don’t expect every PS to be perfect; however I do think negative reviews reflect are a reflection way they handle their complaints. Good luck.

I saw him in first in 2014 when 1 of my original implants ruptured and I had him replace them and do a lift (charged me $4,000 since I wanted my areolas reduced and made smaller), he reduced my areolas but my breast were still the same size and there was no lift or difference in my breast, after about a 6 months I developed horrible scars all the way around my areolas, so Mandell Brown did a revision to remove the scars around the areolas and do a full anchor lift this time (charged me $3,000 for this one) since the first time I had no difference in size. now I'm stuck again with horrible scars, and 2 different size breast, my left breast is a C cup and my right breast is a D. I have huge Keloid scars where he cut me so far out on the sides under my armpits. You can look back at some of my pics from this profile (Tessa951) I also have another profile under "Tired of Scars" that will show my pics of the scars that I had around my areolas, and my story. Please Be very careful if you go thru with him.

The second time I saw him when he charged me the $3,000 was February 2016. And I have since seen about 3 other Dr.'s looking to find someone to fix the disaster he left me with, and so far Dr. Kuy is looking pretty promising.

Hi Tessa951, for good scar revision you want a PS that does excellent (i.e flawless) incision work. Many PS won’t tell you this but how will your scars heal has a lot to do with how neat and precise there incision work is. And of course your genetics and after care also plays a factor. You may want to check out my PS’s incision work. See link copied below to a close up example of his incision work from my BL/BA review. I went to him primarily because of his flawless incision work and the fact that I have a genetic predisposition for hypertrophic scars. If you’re look still looking for PS I highly recommend him (Steven Vath, MD) for scar revisions or any kind of breast surgery. Good luck.

Tessa, I found your other profile and seen your pictures. Thank you for sharing. If it’s ok with you, can I take this to him on surgery day?? If not I understand.

Thank you, I will defiantly look into this. Yes I could tell right form the start that I was not going to have clean scars just due to the fact that his cuts were so jagged and not smooth. And I always understood that the healing depends on the person but I don't smoke or drink and live a fairly healthy lifestyle.
January 9, 2018
Hi Tessa951, you can have great health care and great genetics; however if the PS’s incision work is lousy your scars don’t have a chance to heal well. Let you know my PS offers a free online or phone consultation. You have to be patient though because he is in demand. But he’s well worth it and he doesn’t not charge anything for revisions. I was told he can afford to do this, because he does so few revisions. Btw, if you’ve never traveled for surgery you may want to check out my travel tips in my Dec 7, 2017 update. I have to tell you it was the first time I’ve ever traveled for surgery. But I figured I was taking less of a risk going out-of-town to a five star surgeon that doesn’t have a single bad review rather than going with a local PS that I knew very little about. Wishing you the best.
January 9, 2018
Thank you, but I don't think I would be comfortable traveling across the county to Denver for surgery.
January 9, 2018
Hi Tessa, Yes I totally understand where you’re coming from. Prior to my BL I never thought I would travel for surgery either. Most people travel to save money; however my reason was to get good results. Mind you there are only two PS in this entire country that I would consider BL surgery with; and neither are located in Florida. Lol.

You seem to have made a quick decision to go with this doc. You need to slow down.
Call and see if you can get your money back if you want to see how they are really going to treat you.
If they are fair with you, then take time and go in and discuss your concerns with him. Waiting until the day of surgery will be a fiasco.....

My big concern with Dr. Mandel Brown is is his not a certified plastic surgeon but rather technically an ENT (Ear/Nose/Throat) Doctor. His website says he is "triple board certified plastic surgeon", but then in his education, it is losted the three boards as follows: Board Certified – American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery 1991; Board Certified – “American Board of Otolaryngology” Head & Neck Surgery 1987; Board Certified – American Board Of Cosmetic Surgery 2007. None of those are body plastic surgery certifications, he is really only board certified to be removing tonsils and facelifts. I was not aware of this prior to meeting with several other surgeons, who informed me of this. That's when I did the research on his own website and saw they were telling the truth. My biggest concern is if you (God forbid) have complications, most insurance companies won't pay for the resulting issues with the doctor wasn't plastic surgery board certified for the surgery you had.

I am starting my research for a similar procedure.
I don't understand why you would give a doctor a 5 star review when you have not seen the results of the surgery. This is very misleading in my opinion.

With what I have had so far between contact and consult and the time he took with me me. I’ve reviewing the entire process. I have also said not sure on worth it or not. You will see a lot of reviews done this way.
January 9, 2018
If you are not sure you should not give a 5 star review in my opinion. Every one will treat you great in the beginning. They want to get paid etc... You should hold your rating until you get to the finish line and see the result.
January 9, 2018
Hi summer, I agree with you hundred 100%. Have to say this is one of the reasons I’m very skeptical of “5 star” reviews, especially when the member does not continue to update beyond a couple weeks post op. What I mainly focus on how if there are any negative reviews posted... and whether the PS responded to the complaint in a helpful manner. I figure for each negative review there’s probably a lot of other bad reviews untold. Another red flag (for me) is if the member has not given their review any star rating nor returned to update; often times people are too embarrassed to admit they had a botched surgery, imho. So when you’re reading a PS’s reviews be sure to scroll through all of them to check things out carefully. Wishing you the best with your procedure.

Sorry for the confusion I just filled it out how the page asked. I don’t think it’s confusing bc it even asks for my surgery date. So then it’s been my experience so far right? And so far things with him and his office and everyone helping me have been amazing. They respond to my emails right away call me back as soon as possible and take the time with me. So yes after procedure and process and healing then if things go bad, I can change how I feel. I wouldn’t want to leave it blank or leave 3 or less and have no one read it bc so far I think him and his office people and nurses are great.
January 10, 2018
Hi Oneliter, No need to apologize; you are free to review however you want. However I think what Summer and most member’s are wanting to know is how well the surgeon performed the actual surgery. Not how friendly the staff was or responsive they were to emails. For that reason many member’s wait till after the surgery to give a star rating. Of course as I mentioned it’s up to each member how they want to rate their PS.... :-)

I’m really getting nervous now. I can’t believe it’s going to be this week! I can’t wait to see how things go. I know some of you were worried with who I chose to do the surgery, but he is very qualified and certified. I was wondering if you guys could tell me some things that I will need for my over night bag. I have a friend in Cincinnati that I’m staying with instead of a hotel. I will update again after surgery with pics.

Pack a bunch of comfortable clothes! I quickly realized how little front closureclothes I owned. Be sure to have everything laid out for after the surgery (for in the bathroom or your room) so your friend can easily help. Go to the store the day before your surgery to stock up on food for after. Good luck!!

I bought a bunch of cheap buttons down shirts on Amazon. The uglier the cheaper! Lol! And my hubs is taking care of all the shopping. We only have to stay 2 days then we can come back home. We are about 2 1/2 hours away from the Doc. How is coughing?? I always cough after being put to sleep. Are we allowed to use ice??
January 21, 2018
Regarding ice: although some PS are perfectly fine with ice others (such as my own) do not allow their patients to use ice ice, as they believe this may impede the blood source to the areolas. This is something you should really ask your own PS about. Good luck. :-)

Surgery went perfect!

I went in at 7:30am yesterday morning and was in surgery by 9. Dr. Mandell-Brown was great. Him and his staff took great care of me. He listened to all my concerns and did his best to give me what I wanted. I did have one complication. When we first spoke he told me that I was good for DDD+. Well turns out I was a little short on skin. My skin started to pull away from my chest in the middle. And we had to down grade to a 600cc saline filled a little over. I ended up being in surgery for almost 4 hours. He had a student with him that I allowed in the room so he could teach. I hope he had a great experience with Dr. Mandell-Brown.He still did the lift and got me sitting up nice and high. He said that we can re think things in about a year when I have healed completely. My anesthesia nurse was amazing. She was so good to me. I was a nervous wreck and she listened to all my concerns and had me drift off to sleep so gently. I woke up very aware and no sickness. The nurse that took care of me was super nice and had a fun sense of humor. I really enjoyed her a lot. I like humor and fun when I’m nervous and she was great. She was very good on all my details and checked and rechecked everything over right up till surgery and afterwards she also took great care of me. I have my follow up Appointment today at 9:45am and hopefully some of these bandages come off or get changed. Having little bit of bleeding but nothing major. Dr. Mandell-Brown gave me his cell number to reach him if I had concerns last night and anytime. I will post some pics now and some later after my checkup. *The Gauze in the middle is to help hold down the skin that’s coming loose. It’s a stint.*

Hi there, congrats on your surgery! I’m glad to your doctor had the wisdom to downgrade the implant size given the complications with the skin coming up in the middle. I’m not an M.D. but If it’s what I think it was it’s known as symmastia, which can be very difficult to correct if it gets out of hand. Wishing you a smooth healing… :-)
January 28, 2018
congrats! glad to hear everything went well! Happy Healing and can’t wait to see your results!
In any case I hope you’ll take safe measures to insure that your results are an improvement, especially since your breasts are quite attractive the way they look now although you do have some ptosis. Good luck and best wishes! :-)
