Surgery Day

It was 8 weeks from my consult to the surgery, so I was ready! Shockingly, I slept well the night before. Because of COVID restrictions, I had to go into the surgery center without my husband, which didn’t feel great but I was so excited. The center was beautiful and the nurse who got me ready was incredibly calming. I wore loose button down flannel pajamas from VS, which both the pre and post op nurses commented were perfect - so I recommend wearing something like that. Dr. Koch was of course right on time and made conversation as he marked me up. This also was calming. Then it was time to go. Just like that I was off to surgery, 12 minutes early in fact.
Waking up was tough. I had terrible bed spins and a bruised throat. After some meds I was able to get up but still felt terrible. I sat for a bit and received more meds. Based on the time the doctor called my husband and the time I left, I spent over 2 hours in recovery. I guess I am slow to wake up.
Once home I slept on the couch for quite a bit. I woke up and finally took a look - I said “oh my god, I have side boob!” to my husband. That sure was exciting! That night I made a nest of pillows and slept very well on my back. No need for special wedge pillows. Using multiple pillows gives you more ability to get comfortable and adjust things.

Consult and Pre-Ops

Once I had made up my mind, I did some research on surgeons in my area. For the past 10 years I had been asking around, and while I never could get a recommendation specifically relating to a lift, Dr. Koch’s name came up multiple times in different circles in regards to breast augmentation. I did go to see a surgeon new(er) to my area. The consult was nice, but very surface. And afterwards, I thought of many questions I needed answers to before I could commit to surgery. I still felt unsure about the surgery. My consult with Dr. Koch was incredibly thorough, he answered my questions and provided me with all the knowledge I could possibly need. There was nothing I thought of days later. I had previously been advised that I would really need an implant to achieve the look I wanted. While I was excited at the possibility of celebrity level cleavage, I also was worried about putting a foreign object in my body. Dr. Koch told me I didn’t need an implant and he patiently told me “no” as I asked about implants 100 different ways. I left the consult feeling confident and comfortable moving forward. I booked my surgery only a few hours after leaving his office.

I Finally Had the Courage!

I am a petite 34 years old and I have wanted a breast lift since I was 16. I am 5'1", 116lbs and measure a 30F-G bra size. I am not sure why, but I developed very large, pendulous breasts with matching areolas that pointed at the ground. I have always been self-conscious and embarrassed of my body. Shopping for bras and bathing suits was literally a nightmare and generally impossible, not to mention all the years of back and neckaches. In my early 30s I got into the best shape of my life for a trip to Mexico. Sadly, poolside I still didn't feel fabulous because of my breasts. I researched surgeons, had a consult, spoke to other women who had reductions and lifts but fear of the procedure itself and the outcome held me back for over 15 years. Flash forward to the summer of 2020. I was driving home from walking my dogs and my breasts were literally resting on exercize belt. And that is when I had finally had enough! The next day I started researching again and within a few days I had scheduled multiple consults. It was time.
