Best Surgeon in San Antonio

found Dr. Lawton online via a google search for breast implant illness and explant surgeons near me. I have been very sick since 2018, and subsequently diagnosed with all sorts of things like chronic Lyme disease, and lupus. I had seen multiple doctors and tried so many different treatments none working well or making me worse. I even flew to Germany for 6 weeks of specialized Lyme treatment which was an enormous cost and I left there much worse off. After that I was giving up hope that I would find something, anything, to get my life back on track. At this point I was unable to work, unable to stand for longer than 5 minutes, unable to walk, my brain would not work, I could not remember anything, could not stand light or noise of any kind, I had rashes, and severe pain all over my body-major joints, could not sleep or slept to much, could not eat without vomiting or GI issues, weight gain, weight loss, hair loss, skin breakouts, extreme sun sensitivity. It was a very unpleasant roller coaster I was riding and at times I wondered why I was living at all. At times I wished I had to courage to end it but I desperately clung to a thread of hope that I would find something to help.

I had implants since I was in my 20's and my Aunt said she had older friends with a lot of the same issues that had them explanted and what did I have to lose by removing the implants that were now over 30 years old. And YES I had seen surgeons, doctors, had mammograms and ultrasounds, and a MRI that all said the implants were fine and I was advised to leave well enough alone. So I was conflicted but had nothing else left to try.

So I started research and found Dr Lawton. IT WAS EXTREMELY QUICK to get a free consultation. I did have to wait as he was behind but what doctor isn't and I did not care about waiting at all. When he came in he apologized, he was attentive, he did not rush at all, he gave me HIS FULL ATTENTION and that in itself was amazing as I was used to what's your problem and 6 minutes I am out the door to suffer alone again. Dr. Lawton HEARD ME, he advised me, he DID NOT MINCE WORDS, he was VERY clear and knowledgeable in a subject I did not expect him to be so passionate about. I expected he would say "ok we can take them out" and that would be it, but it was so much more than that. He CARED that I was sick, he cares deeply about wound healing, and about doing the right kind of procedure to get the best outcome of what you want to achieve. He MADE ME NO PROMISES and was very clear about that. I understood I might get nothing out of it but I also knew I might improve and that was THE GLIMMER OF HOPE I was looking for. I scheduled surgery before I left the appointment. That is how confident I felt that removing the implants was the right decision for me based off Dr. Lawton's information. I saw CoolMed before surgery, started supplements and a high protein diet to aid wound healing. Surgery day came and Dr. Lawton was there and he was comforting and confident. I was freezing and he personally went and got a blanket and covered me. I mention that because what doctor does that? None I have come across--again his ATTENTION TO DETAIL is unparalleled. Dr. Lawton is kind, professional, and utterly serious about his craft.

So....1 year explant and I am 75% back to my old self. Its quite amazing. My lupus is under control as best I think it will be. I am on very minimal medicine for it. I continued care with Dr. Cooley at CoolMed because she helped me restore gut health after so many antibiotics to treat Lyme. The supplements are the only thing I tolerate well and I can tell the difference in my energy and stamina.

I am returning to work and hope that I will be able to withstand the physical demands but only time will tell. Either way my pain level went from a 9/10 to a 2/3, I still don't sleep to good but it is much improved. I can eat normally, still follow a higher protein diet, avoid the sun but can actually go outside or ride in a car now without developing rashes. GI issues essentially gone.

So even though Dr. Lawton is a plastic surgeon and does implants as well as explants he HEARS you on what you want and more importantly what will be safe and work best for your body.

I honestly cannot say enough about Dr. Lawton. He gave me my life back. ***** 5 stars*****
