Silicone Implants Removed Under Local Anesthesia

WORTH IT$721
I researched very fully about having my silicone breast implants removed. After much consideration, I chose to drive 10 hours to Dr. Wong’s office to have them removed under local anesthesia in one of his office treatment rooms. The total price was $721!! It wasn’t just the price, but the fact that Dr. Wong was so incredibly available to discuss my procedure, even emailing me on the weekend!! I chose to just leave the capsules in because I felt that I was not a person who had breast implant illness (not even sure if it has been proved) plus the fact that capsulectomy was an additional extra procedure adding much to complication rate and healing time.

Bilateral Seroma After Subpectoral Explantation (No Capsulectomy)
HikerTrikerJune 29, 2022
The implants were removed mid-November of 2021 and within a couple of months, it was obvious that I was developing seromas. I had them drained, only to have them return worse than ever (bigger than my original implants!!) Now, it is recommended for me to have a second aspiration, but this time to place bilateral drains and leave the drains in for TWO MONTHS!! I sure hope this works as I wish to avoid a future capsulectomy and all that it entails.

Hiya,
Im sorry to hear you are having such trouble. I hope it works this time, wow two mths sure is a long time to have drains in. Ive breast implants under the muscle and i regret getting them so much its ruined my life thus far i get alot of Breast implant illness symptoms, Im unsure which is the best way of doing the removal, im being told i could end up worse off pain wise in my chest as now i get sharp shooting pains across chest and an array of other sensations/pain & also ive fibromyalgia which developed after breast implants, so its terrifying thinking of getting them out and i dont think my body would be able to withstand enbloc total capsulectomy with it being such a big operation im terrified ill be in even more pain than i already am.. The implants i have were recalled the textured implants. I also have the waterfall effect where the breast tissue had slipped down off the implants. So im interested to know how you get on as maybe your way is the best way for my body, i just am so unsure what to do.

I am currently recovering from explant surgery - enbloc total capsulectomy and muscle repair (Sept.2 2022). I had my implants ( under muscle - through underarm)for 32 years and just began having issues with the right side. Please do more research!! - I was not wanting to do enbloc and was also concerned about recovery, because my health had deteriorated drastically over the last year (multiple BII and auto immune symptoms), but on investigation I realized cutting open the capsule was to risky. I did not want the possibility of releasing cancer cells ( had the possibility of textured surface silicon implants)or leaked silicon into my chest cavity/body. I also did not want the toxic capsule left in my body. That being said I did the enbloc with Dr. Lu Jean Feng in Cleveland, Ohio and I can honestly say, so far recovery has been much better than I was expecting. Yes, I have a ways to go and it is a process, but I feel like it was the right choice for me. Leaving them in, just wasn't an option for me once I educated myself on implants. It was not an easy decision. I had my implants my whole life - they were very much "my breasts" and they still felt and looked good - BUT they had begun making me sick. Not being able to live my life and feeling horrible all the time, just was not a way I was willing to live my life. I am looking forward to getting back to the gym and my outdoor activities, eventually. I have already noticed less symptoms and am starting to feel more like myself again. I have begun researching detoxing from heavy metals, etc. I do wish I had moved faster in making my decision, but like you I was scared. I know this is a big decision and a difficult one. I hope you find your way and are able to get your life back!! You can call Dr. Feng's office at (216)831-7007 press 1 for her offices - they will give you helpful information. Also, you can try calling Dr. Amy DeRosa in Michigan at (248)688-7597 and ask if they can also provide information on Enbloc for you. I will be hoping for the best for you . Be sure to go to www.healingbreastimplantillness.com - all woman going through want you are - beyond helpful!!

I wish you both well on this journey. I have told that daily massaging helps in avoiding the onset of thickening scar tissue capsulectomy. My implant (1) is a result of breast cancer it with stood radiation but has now changed shape and is riding high, my advice is do tons of research and search for surgeon with experience in dealing withy or specific problems.

Same question for the other(s) who posted removal while leaving capsule in? Did you have prior BII symptoms and how do you feel now?
