WORTH IT$900
THANK YOU to the ladies so bravely sharing their story.
Like some of you out there I was always small chested. I had barely A’s with a very athletic figure. My breast size didn’t bother me until after the birth of my children. I didn’t breast feed so it wasn’t so much that they were saggy as I felt like my body had changed to a more squishy state. I felt as though if my boobs were more proportional to my new puffier body I wold look great. So, just 6 months after the birth of my second child I got Breast implants. I went to two consults and decided on the doctor that promised the most natural looking outcome. The first month I was devastated about my decision but grew to really appreciate them and love them. Still to this day no one has asked me if I got them but I definitely got compliments.
Fast forward two years exactly and I was casually talking while scratching my chest and noticed a huge lump on the top outer side of my right breast. Immediately I freaked out and thought The worst. I went and got a mammogram the next day fearing breast cancer. They said they believed it was just my implant.
This bump/lump was visible and squishy almost like the size of a nickel. The PS said it was common for implants to start “poking through” more common on the bottom of the implant but unfortunately mine was on top. His dismissal lead me to look for options, other surgeons and ways to fix. The only fix was a revision and this lead me to this real self site where I discovered the possibility of explant. The real potential of multiple surgeries down the road and the fact that this had likely been caused by a tear in my capsule coupled with low capsular contracture made me sick with worry.
So I saw 3 surgeons in regards to explanting. The first said it would turn out ok with saggy skin and would be ~$4k, the second said it wold turn out great due to my age the small size of implants (275cc), and the third said it would be a gamble and he had just done one for a lady who immediately wanted them back in he was $900 but also had the best reputation.
The second and third were cheaper because they could operate in office not at a hospital and they were planning on local anesthesia and were not removing capsules.
I went with the third and had my explant yesterday.

Day of surgery
1984rachelMarch 17, 2018
My surgery was Thursday which was two days ago. The surgery was scheduled for 11:45 and I was told to arrive around 10:45. They took me and my husband back to a prep room where they took my vitals had me change into a surgerysurgery gown and gave me a Valium to relax. I’m not certain I needed the Valium but I will say that it made me very relaxed. The doctor came back and talked to me for a few minutes and then I was led into the surgery room where I laid on a flat operating table with the arms stretched out. The nurses cleaned my chest area and hung a sheet in front of my face so I couldn’t see the process.
I had the surgery under local Anastasia so I was awake and coherent the entire time. They gave what felt like 10 numbing shots on each breast but I only felt the first one or two because the numbing started to take affect. I could hear some snipping for some reason, maybe cutting the capsule away from the implant? Then I could feel a small amount of pressure and the grossest suction sound when it came out. He did the same thing to the other side and then stitched me up. The whole thing took about 45 minutes.
Going into this I almost paid extra money to be put to sleep because I was afraid about my emotional state while being awake and cut open. I have to say it was truly not bad at all. I was expecting something bad and it went very easy and painless.
I have a small dressing under each breast where the incision is that I have to keep on for 48 hours and then after 48 hours I can remove it and shower. The doctor will see me next week to check the incisions.
I was given a prescription for Percocet if I had any pain but I didn’t even fill it. I have taken ibuprofen twice in the last 48 hours since the surgery. I even felt good enough to go out to lunch with my husband afterwards. The way I keep describing it to my husband is that it is as it is though I have been wearing a formal dress for the last 2 1/2 years and I finally got put on sweatpants. It feels amazing.

I forgot to add that the doctor said the scars would heal twice as fast as they did when I got the implants because scars heal faster when skin isn’t stretched tight.

Love your formal dress / sweatpants analogy. Thanks for the laugh and sharing your story. Getting ready to explant next week!

I love your analogy! I can’t wait for that feeling. Just to be able to take a deep breath! I’m explanting on April 5th, after 4.5 years. Congrats!

Thank you for sharing this. I'm about to do the same and I can't wait. Who was your doctor? Did you get the capsules removed too or just the implants? My implants are very soft and I'm being told two different things about how to do it. Some are saying it's extremely important to always remove the capsule and some are saying if it's soft and there is no problems then it's best to leave it be. How did you do it?

good luck!!! I had mine for 2 1/2 years and all the doctors I had consults with recommended keeping the capsules and place. They said they would be thin like tissue paper and would cause more damage to remove them then take them out.

You look amazing :D And I don't think that you are flat chested... you look natural and beautiful. I would wish that I could look like you after explant. But I hardly have any breasttissue (a swollen nipple before BA)... going to explant in a month in local.
Did you have submuscular implants? If so - do you experience any muscle distortion? And what about lifting?
March 20, 2018
hi Chewi! Thank you :) I did have sub-muscular implants, and was also worried about muscle distortion. so far I have not experienced any. When I flex they look exactly as they did before. I am only five days post op so I haven’t done any lifting for exercise but I have certainly lifted my five-year-old and three-year-old daughters since the operation everything is fine. I imagine lifting with weights will be normal as well! Good luck with your explant!!! If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
March 21, 2018
Oh that sounds so Good! Thank you! I have a 1-year old and I am worried about lifting him. But if you Can lift a five-year old and a three-year old - I guess it won't be a problem for me :b
