Explant Under Local Anesthetic

UPDATED FROM 19871216

Almost 2 months post ex plant (local anesthetic, no lift)

WORTH IT$3,339
I’m already mostly used to them. I have a lot more volume than I expected, they still still quite big in some shirts. I do fall out of low cut bras/bikinis easily, so finding the right cut/style is important (scoop neck/high neck is good!)
I would say that the tissue has slightly rearranged, to be less shelf like, but they are very fallen off my chest wall. Mostly the same as they were before implants tho. Some angles and lighting look a lot better than others, and when my arms are raised they look great! I will consider a lift after children in the future. Last photo shows the reality of it more, as straight on in good lighting looks quite a bit better. I am LOVING having a proper “under boob” (breast fold) back and it feels amazing to not having implants. Obviously missing the tight upper fullness, but no regrets.

So glad you love your results. You look great!
How big of implants did you have originally?
You look amazing!
Thank you! I had 375cc silicone under the muscle.
Where did you explant? Who was your surgeon? Btw the result looks really amazing!
thank you! In New Westminster, BC.

Before and after

Day of explant, and one week after explant.
After photo was taken in very good lighting (I have lots of loose skin and quite a shelf like appearance from the side) but pretty happy!!
I miss the upper fullness but sooo happy to have a lower breast fold back (underboob)
With implants I had deformities in my breast fold, when I raised my arm it was completely lumpy and visible on the lower half of my breasts.

Are they starting to fluff and fill out more??

ORIGINAL POST

Explant Under Local Anesthetic

I got implants placed in 2015 to help fill out the loose skin after losing 60 pounds. I never wanted big boobs, but I was told that implants would be the best option over a lift. I now feel a lift and no implants would have been better. I missed my small chest immediately and still had loose skin over my implants.
After 6 years with my silicone under the muscle implants, I decided to have them removed.
I had seen people mention having them removed under local so I decided to ask about it. I was pleased to find out the cost would be 50% less, and it seemed like the right choice for me.
As a bonus, my private health insurance paid for most of the surgery!
I am not a squeamish person, and often watch surgery videos. I also have worked in dental surgery my whole adult life, so the idea of this did not bother me. Many people thought I was crazy but the few reviews I read on here, people had a great experience. I also found a few videos online of people having implant removal under local and the patients seemed very comfortable and happy.
I wanted to have my implants removed for various reasons - I had complications with them from the beginning (had an immediate revision, which was semi fixed but not completely) severe animation deformity, bottoming out, lump visible implants on the lower half, no proper breast fold, they were also much bigger than I ever wanted.
After developing chronic back pain from my career, I decided that I no longer wanted the added weight of implants. I am thinking of starting to have children next year, and the thought of huge breast milk filled chest with implants, and my back pain, scared me of pregnancy.
I was not nervous at all until an hour before surgery, I noticed that I had major butterflies and my body was starting to involuntarily shake with nerves.
The whole procedure went so fast, I was in and out of the surgical centre within 2 hours. The procedure took around 30 minutes, and was not bad at all.
The most painful part was the numbing, but overall it was no worse then any other time you get needles. After that, I felt a tiny bit of heat from cautery, and tugging. When the implants them self were removed, I felt way less pressure then I had expected from videos I had watched. The weirdest part was the feeling when he was flushing the pockets out with saline. They put a drape up so I could not see, although I had kind of wanted to.
I walked right out of the surgical centre about one hour after my surgery, and went to the pharmacy with my husband - I was feeling fine.
That night I only slept 5 hours, as I have a very difficult time sleeping on my back. The pain the next day was worse now that the numbing and adrenaline was all gone.
The pain was way less than the augmentation tho, mainly just pain at the incisions.
The surgeon said my surgery was very straight forward and clean and he was very happy with it. He also mentioned if it was his family member he would suggest this route as well. He does en bloc procedures as well, and I respect people’s reason for wanting that, but there are risks involved with that as well. He had done one that morning on someone with an incredibly thin capsule like me, and he said in the end he couldn’t even remove it all safely as it was adhered to the back of her chest wall near her lungs. Capsule removal is a personal choice and for me, this made sense.
I was expecting my chest to look quite bad, as before augmentation I had lots of loose skin. So far,
It is a little worse then before my original surgery but I am excited to see how it changes. Loving the small chest so far! Feels amazing to not have unnatural water balloons under my skin.

We're the capsule removed or not?
Some of the capsule was removed, but mostly not. It was extremely thin such as a wet paper towel
I did this awake. Best decision ever
Right!! I am 4 days post op and starting to feel normal again. The surgery was so straight forward with minimal down time, and also more affordable
Congrats!! How many cc were the implants? I have the same problems with my left side. How is the left side looking now?
They were 375cc silicone mentor mod plus profile under the muscle smooth round. They were in perfect condition and no signs of ruptures once removed.
I am 5 days post op and I have slightly tried flexing and while my pecs are active I see no deformity :) I haven’t taken off my large bandages yet but so far I see no double bubble appearance or anything either!
Thank you for your answer. I am thinking about explant. I had revision surgery too for bottoming out etc.. Just worried about being flat all by a sudden and how I can handle it.
I have zero upper pole fullness now but still a good handful of boob :p yes lots of loose skin and saggy but I don’t even mind. The relief to not have unnatural bottoming out water balloons is far worth it :) I hope you make the best decision for you
Why did you remove you implants? We’re you feeling sick? Did you feel better after? I’m trying to make an informative decision to get implants or not but I’m just so scared of complications but I really want my confidence back for my overall mental health :(
I removed them for many reasons, I never loved them from the beginning and had lots of insecurities about the implants - double bubble appearance, flex deformity, bottoming out. I felt like I paid all that money and should have perfect breasts but instead I had implants that had deformities. I also developed back and neck issues related to work but felt possibly the weight of the implants weren’t helping. I don’t regret getting implants because it was what I really wanted and I was so bothered by my breasts after weight loss, but just as I thought before I got implants,
I think I would have been better off with a lift.. I never wanted big boobs. If money was not an issue I would say a breast lift and fat transfer would have been a better option for me then, and now. What I am left with now is not great, but I sure feel relieved to get rid of those implants.
Wow, sounds like a very good experience. And you're right, capsulectomy is a Dr & patient choice since we are all at different stages of implant age & how our body handled them (scar tissue) when we got them. Whew, this gives me comfort. Thank you for sharing. I'm getting mine explanted this June.
Do you think implants are worth it or more of a financial burden and I’m also terrified of breast implants illness symptoms did you ever have any
Hey I sent you a message just to give you my experience. Maybe it will provide you some clarity.
