WORTH IT
Feeling good--scars are slowly healing but on the right path. My left side is much smaller than the right but it was like this prior to explant also. Hopefully the scar will blend in around the crease since there is not much breast tissue on that side.

Looking good! Are you using silicone gel plasters or sheets? I heard that should really help to lighten the scar (takes months though so not a quick fix).
It looks really good!
ORIGINAL POST

Explant with Capsulectomy

Happy to share my experience since Realself has been such a great resource. I had 350cc textured teardrops implants placed below the muscle 21 years ago. I had no problems with them but was a bit scared with the textured implant issues, and in all honesty, I was just over them. I was a 34AA (if even that!) prior to implants so I was very concerned of what the outcome would be, but in the end I decided I would rather just be me and flat than be worried about one deflating while on vacation or leading to serious health issues. I started researching about explanting and really cannot thank all the Realself members for all their insights and photos.
I met with a few doctors and really connected with Dr. Saulis in Hinsdale Illinois, scheduled my surgery and now I am just under 2 weeks of total explant and capsulectomy. The drains were the worst part since you always have to worry about them, so once those were removed at 6 days post, I felt much better. I took regular Tylenol for a few days as the incision sites were pretty sore, but otherwise I have been very pleased with the minimal amount of pain--much easier than getting them in. They seem to change every day but I am thrilled with my decision and love that I don't have the hump at my upper breast--I love the "ski slope" look and am still able to wear all my stretchy pull over and sports bras. I know I have put on weight over the past 20 years but not too much so I am really happy with how soft they are. The area around the scars is healing nicely and feels a "thicker" than the surrounding tissues but the doctor says this is normal healing so I'm trusting in her and have started massaging the area. I will update with photos in the future but the photos on here are with implants, day after explant, 1 week post and almost 2 weeks post. Good luck to you all and highly recommend Dr. Saulis if you are in suburban Chicago!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I also have teardrop texture implants 250cc under the muscle for over 23 years. You are the first review I’ve seen that almost have same stats as me. I’m so scared to go through the explant surgery, and your review lifts up my spirits. Your results look amazing!! I agree, hate the hump, like the ski slope much better. Thanks again!
Good luck to you!
Hi .. I'm thinking about removing mine after 8 years and i was worried I might need a lift but looking and your pictures i might be ok
Good luck to you! I never had a lot of tissue so I never even considered needing a lift-I was just hoping they weren't concave! :)
I am78 young and going to have my breast implants with a capsuletomecy removed after 36 years of implants no problems until my right and left implants ruptured. I look like a three breasted woman. I so anxious to get them removed . Surgery is scheduled dec 1 2022.
Good luck to you!
Yay, surgery for you is coming up ! Mine is next week-- had them for about 18 years---
Good luck to you!!
You look great! I wish I could look the same after my upcoming explant surgery in early November.... Probably not, but hope dies last I guess. ;-)
Thanks for being brave and courageous to post your pictures.
Good luck to you and thanks! Hopefully you will like the results too--I was preparing for the worst also!
