Dr. Rankin Fell Short in Both Results and Care
$15,000
I am giving Dr. Rankin the lowest possible rating based on my extremely negative experience.
I underwent explant surgery with fat grafting, and at 10 months post-op, the results are very poor. I am left with significant asymmetry and will need revision surgery.
No drain was placed after surgery, which likely led to a seroma. Despite this, a drain still was not placed when the complication developed. Instead, I had to return repeatedly over several months to have fluid manually expressed from my breast—an experience that was both physically painful and emotionally distressing. Only after I insisted was a drain finally placed, and by then the damage had already been done.
My mammary fold is now distorted, and my breasts are visibly asymmetrical.
I was also not adequately informed of the risks of fat grafting. I have ongoing loss of sensation in my legs, which was not clearly disclosed to me beforehand. This is a serious procedure with real risks, and I do not feel those risks were properly communicated.
Dr. Rankin’s response to all of this was dismissive and paternalistic. He refused to discuss revision options, leaving me to deal with a poor outcome and significant anxiety about how the asymmetry would be corrected.
This was not acceptable care. I felt unsupported at every stage. Based on my experience, I do not recommend Dr. Rankin.
