Dr Christopher Chase for Explant - Outstanding!

WORTH IT
Review for Dr Christopher Chase, Chattanooga

Firstly, this is long overdue (I had my procedure mid October last year); however, there was an issue after the surgery itself (no reflection on Dr Chase) and I wanted the final outcome before I wrote this review. Secondly, this may (probably will) end up being rather long - so if you prefer, please skip forward to the summary at the end :) Lastly, I’m not in the habit of writing reviews of any kind, so this is the exception and a measure (and small token) of my gratitude to Dr Chase and his team.

Dr Chase - the man himself… he’s respectful, well mannered, a lovely individual. He listened and gave me exactly what I wanted. Could not have done better. I have no hesitation in recommending him to any woman who is looking for a qualified and experienced surgeon. And for someone who is an absolute pleasure to deal with. As an aside, I did also go for a consult with another well known surgeon in the local area - total opposite - I’ll say no more. I guess it takes all sorts and it really comes down to preference. I went with the quietly spoken individual who delivered 100%.

The Staff - ‘Charlies’ Angels’ - my coin of phrase for this bevy of beauties - I ‘know’ Dr Chase is ‘not’ called Charlie but, whenever I’m at the office and the girls are milling around doing their thing, it just reminds me of Charlie Angels (tv show from way back when - for you younger gals) - plus there’s more than three of them! I truly don’t know how Dr Chase has managed to capture such a wonderful team of gals - whenever I’m in there, they all seem happy working there, there’s a feeling of camaraderie (read: no bitchiness anywhere - unusual when there’s so many women working together). And they are all truly lovely (and very easy on the eye, despite the varying ages).

I hope I don’t leave anyone out but here’s a special shout out to: Stacia (probably my favorite - but they are all exceptional in their respective roles - she reassured me on every single visit (when I was sometimes beyond nervous) ‘and’ she has the best smile ever! Tiffany (young and lovely) who held my hand when I needed it (thank you my sweet - I do remember and appreciate this very much!) Jamie (Dr Chase’s nurse) who did my pre-op and was there at surgery (and who called me several times before and after) - thank you my dear - you were great. The anesthetist Holly was excellent and I appreciated her warmth, both before and after surgery, (when I was out of it). My hubby mentioned afterward how warm and lovely she was.

Brittany (in finance) who helped explain how insurance works (for the seroma issue) after the fact (this was nothing to do with Dr Chase’s office). Susan (front desk) who reassured me big time when I was incredibly nervous about having my lips done (well after the surgery). There was another young gal in the surgery room I do recall before I went out (unconscious) and she was like everyone else on the team and lastly and I hope not least, I believe there’s a tall blonde gal (she may be the office manager(?) and she’s also been as pleasant as everyone else. I simply could not fault any of these ladies. What a wonderful team.

And, before I forget, if you ever call and they don’t pick up the phone immediately (because they’re at lunch for example), they do text you and then call you very soon thereafter. I had several questions before and after my surgery (as well as my other couple of treatments mentioned here) and each and every time, the girls never wavered in getting back to me with full answers.

My Breast Explant - the good, the bad and the pain in the proverbial! The care leading up to the procedure itself were flawless - all the staff, Jamie (Dr C’s nurse) were excellent. Holly, the anesthetist was wonderful, so warm and I couldn’t ask for better. Obviously I don’t recall a single thing (good). I slept on my back as recommended after the procedure (now that takes some getting used to…) My weekly follow up was great - the boobs were great (I had been dreading taking a peek - all that I had heard and read recommended to ‘not’ look at the boobs until at least several months’ down the road). Anyway, I did look and I was very pleased. No mega wrinkling or ugliness at all.

However, ‘after’ my first check up, the right boob kind of blew up - I believe it’s called a seroma (another word for swelling) and it was very hard - and much, much bigger than the other - I was gutted and thought that I had done something wrong. But, as I’ve learned, this can happen to anyone following surgery - lucky me! So… Dr Chase explained it (I was kind of out of it and not really following) but anyway, he stuck a needle in said boob (I was terrified) but hardly felt a thing. He drained it and immediately my boobs looked like a matching pair once again. Then I wore a tight bandage around the boobs (instead of the support bra) for a week. Well guess what! within two days, that bloody swelling came right back - grrrrrr….

I went back to see Dr C and he attempted to drain it but nothing came out. Bugger! So he referred me to Prime Imaging (what a palava to get the appointment fixed up with them) (nothing to do with Dr C’s office) but thankfully, when I got there, they were very good and professional. First appointment was a scan (and they could see the solid mass) and second appointment, a doctor went in and drained it.

Both Dr C and the doc at Prime explained that it (the seroma) could come back (and keep coming back) and I’d just have to keep having it drained. Also, that any residual fluid in the breast should just leave ‘eventually’ via the body naturally.

Fast forward three months from the op itself and I think I’m almost there. There ‘may’ be just a little swelling which has come back (and a little hardness as well) in the same ‘badly behaved boob’ but nothing to write home about. Any difference there might be at this point is negligible and I don’t think anyone else would notice.

All in all, I am very, very happy. I wish I’d had the implants removed years ago (I’d thought about it for years but of course the hubby liked my DD cup). Worthy of note, hubby is very happy with my new boobs!!!

For reference, I am considered slim/petite and was a 34B (all my life) ‘before’ I got implants) at age 40. I had them removed at age 62. I was hoping to return to a B cup but it seems I am a D!!! I just got measured recently. Not a bad problem to have I suppose. Maybe it’s an age thing as to why they’re so much fuller than they were originally. But I can tell you, they look really good (to me); obviously there’s gravity but I’m very happy. The wrinkling (if you can call it that) from the extra skin (from the implants) is really minimal, I think you can barely notice anything untoward at all. Dr C went in through the original scar (underneath the breast) and that’s healing nicely. I’m using the Bio Oil that he recommended.

One other thing I forgot to mention. When Dr C went in to do the procedure, he found that both implants had ruptured!!!! What the Fudge! I had absolutely no idea. I’ve been having mammograms since age 40. Can you imagine if I just left these inside. God knows what could’ve happened. I am beyond thankful to have them out and beyond grateful to Dr C for his care and expertise.

Okay, now I’m going to move on to a couple of other things I had after the breast explant at Dr C’s office…

Lips (filler) with the gorgeous Lynsey. She’s young, vivacious, just had a baby and looks stunning! Though on the young side, her bedside manner, care and talent go far beyond her years. For context, I have very small, thin lips (age doesn’t help!) Well, I was with her a good long while for this appointment, she numbed me up real good and her rapport and demeanor I think are hard to beat, particularly so for this position. She really took her time and explained what she was doing throughout.

For further reference, I am totally needle phobic (read: a complete and utter wussy). The pain factor I would say was mostly ‘2’ out of 10 - with an occasional 4 and two real ‘owey’ points on the upper outer lip. That was it. I could not believe it. Zero bruising. They looked amazing when she was done. After the fact, I will say I was rather sore and definitely sensitive (lips) and definitely ‘trouty’ so I did not want to go out for a few days. I was definitely apprehensive about the trout look but it dissipated when the swelling subsided.

I would say by the following week, they looked good. Now, about a month later, I am beyond happy. They just seem natural (to me) and I could not be happier. They look like the lips I’ve always wanted to have.

I must further add that prior to moving locally, I had my lips done three times over a period of several years. The first time with a nurse, it hurt like Hell - there was some bruising but the effect was decent. Second time was with a surgeon no less - that was pretty bad - I was hysterical in the chair because it hurt so sodden much and I was heavily bruised for two week’s after - to the point I did not leave the home - literally. Makeup did ‘not’ cover the bruising. My final attempt was with a different nurse, where she used multiple dental block injections - I was so traumatized by the pain of this, she didn’t even get to do the filler. I was bruised and swollen and looked like Marlon Brando in the Godfather movie!!!

I mention this only because this was my history and experience of lip filler to date ‘before’ I met Lynsey who told me she wanted to change all of that. She did. She is younger than all the above so called experts… (actually, I believe she was a nurse prior to working with Dr C) and she is just incredible.

Of further note, as well as the full vial in my lips, I also had an extra ‘vial’ into my marionette lines, which I would say were significant. I’m not sure I can see too much, if any, improvement. Full disclosure, Lynsey did say that filler here would ‘not’ make the marionette lines disappear entirely - and that micro needling may very well help in this regard. I wish I would’ve seen a bigger difference here but at least Lynsey did tell me that they would ‘not’ fully disappear. She did take photos and so I’m sure when I see her again, I may very well notice some difference but at the moment, I just don’t see any change in this area to be honest. Bugger!

Eyebrow tint with Faith (another lovely young lady). I came to see Faith to have my eyebrows tinted (I am fair skinned) with light thin eyebrows and I pencil them in daily. She did recommend I go a bit darker but I wanted to stay ‘light’ on the first go round. They looked very, very good and very natural - I loved them. I had planned to have them done monthly if they lasted. Unfortunately they didn’t last the month - I am thinking of having them done again however and go darker as Faith suggested, perhaps that way they will last longer.

In any event, I am certain I will be back to see both Lynsey and Faith for treatments in the future - they are both young, both lovely (and qualified and experienced) and I would recommend them both for any anti-aging treatments or procedures.

Summary
I trust Dr Chase, pure and simple. I like him enormously. Same goes for all his wonderful girls on staff. I think he did an incredible job on my explant ‘and’ dealt admirably with the seroma (swelling) in the one breast which followed. And, need I mention, he found both implants were ruptured and he dealt with that also! Thank God for Dr C.

Lynsey and Faith likewise did a wonderful job on my lips (have never looked better) and eyebrows respectively; I know I will be back to see both girls for other treatments in the future.

I would not go anywhere else in the Chattanooga (and surrounding) area. I would recommend Dr Chase and his team in a heartbeat.
