Six Weeks Post Surgery
WORTH IT
I saw my surgeon today for my six weeks post op visit. He said everything looked good and trimmed a few stray dis-solvable sutures that decided to poke me before leaving on their own. He also explained that some were permanent but they would remain internal while the others would work their way out. It was a little sad saying good bye - I'm very independent but am always surprised when I form an attachment to people in a position of trust and care. Everyone in the clinic is so nice, I'll miss the easy banter and smiles by everyone. They do want me to come back for a one year visit though.
On another note, I was sore for a longer than expected period. One solution was to wear a post surgical compression bra over a thin t-shirt turtleneck. I posted a photo of a longer line bra that didn't press directly on the incision sites. Even with that, i sometimes hurt so I would put the surgical pads between the bra and the t-shirt. I must have tried every non-wire bra imaginable lol.
As far as scar management, the doctor told me to keep it up for a while since I have a red area near the nipple that's still red and slow to heal. The silicone strips work well for me but I have very dry skin. I understand they don't stick as well for those with more moisture in their skin. On the other hand, the tape I purchased is going to waste because my skin is sensitive to it. I'll probably post more photos at the three and six months marks. Good luck to everyone and safe healing!

Four Weeks Update
Its been four weeks and time has gone by quickly, but I still have a way to go to full recovery.
I think I mentioned that the doctor had to send a cyst removal from my right breast to the pathologist... I finally looked at the report and the mass was much bigger than the little cyst I'd thought it was. Dr. Said did a great job balancing me out because both breasts look the same size. When I bent down, I can see a dent on the inside of the nipple but that's only in that one one position. Looking straight on, you can't see it.
I began scar treatment therapy last week and I have to say that it takes a little time and effort. I've been alternating every other day between the silicone gel with tape and the silicone strips.
I had the most difficult time finding a bra for recovery and must have spent a small fortune trying different ones They either itched, or were too tight, or pressed on my incisions underneath. One thing that helped was to wear a thin t-shirt and put the bra on over it with a couple of pads between the bra and the shirt to protect my incisions from the bra band. I still can't wear my regular sport bras though.
I know that I'm a slow healer so I'm attempting to be patient. In the photos you can see a bit of redness under the skin from the pressure of the silicone strips I'd just taken off.

You look great! Said is pretty amazing too it seems.
Thank you, I think it's always worth the wait for a great doctor - but I got lucky to see him fairly quickly.
Thanks so much for your detailed description. I am scheduled for a consult and have a ruptured implant, want removal and a lift. Did not know much about Dr. so your narrative was good to hear. Also how long it takes to heal was informative! Did you get a recovery bra through Amazon or????
I've struggled to find a comfortable bra and have wasted a lot of money trying. I purchased a few front close bras from brand Anita style name "Lynn" from Bare Necessities and Her Room. Heads up that they run small and tight. I also purchased two bras from the Mastectomy Shop (small online store) called the Anita Care Compression Bra brand style 1198. Those have been the better ones. Marena makes another front close longer bra but the cup placement is too wide so it's a sleep bra.
I think I was so spoiled with implants when any non-wire bra worked for me. It's been hard to find one now that doesn't press against the incision sites or is comfortable. Sigh...

Eight Day Post Surgery Check Up
What a difference even a day makes. I've been steadily feeling better, but today I was able to get out of the house for my second after-surgery appointment. I still have some drainage but the doctor gave the okay for drain removal which I was relieved about. I feel so much more normal and less an invalid without having to manuever around the drains. I still have bruising, but my my breasts are less sore and swollen than even yeaterday.
I ordered several post surgical bras and am looking forward to receiving them in the next few days as the surgery bra is scratchy and itchy. I was so irritated with it last night, that I took it off and put a t-shirt on underneath it and then put it back on over the shirt for some relief.
In addition to cleaning and changing the tape around the incisions, I got the okay to sleep on my side and not have to have my upper torso elevated. I was also given detailed instructions on beginning scar management. I had looked at the doctor's webpage pre-surgery and ordered the silicone strips, gel, and tape so I would already have them on hand.

Were you big chest before your implants? You seem to have a pretty good size after explating. Good luck with your healing!
Before implants I was 32C and then 34DD after implants. However I gained about 15 pounds so that made a difference and changed my size to 34DDD. I'm 34D right now but I still have swelling.
