Amazing Experience and Would Not Hesitate to Recommend
WORTH IT
Today I am 16 days post op. I had breast implants and capsules removed, a breast lift, 360 lipo, bbl and inner thigh lipo with Jplasma.
I had been researching surgeons for over a year, had been to a number of consultations here in Spain where i have lived for many years. My implants had been in for 25yrs and I was very happy with them until the past couple of years as they had capsulated, become very hard and painful, particularly the right one. I was undecided whether to remove them completely or exchange them. Non of the surgeons here wanted to remove them totally, they all said I would regret it and would not entertain the idea.
I had been in contact with Mia, a co-ordinator that works for Dr Yunus, she had assured me that we could remove them and perform a lift but after my consultation with Dr Yunus I could also change my mind, no pressure either way. It was the lovely Mia that convinced me I was making the right desicion with choosing Dr Yunus as my surgeon. She has always been incredibly helpful, kind and with absolutely no pressure at all.
I had decided on the lipo etc as I knew I would be disappointed to lose my breasts, although they had become painful, one higher than the other etc they still looked good in a bra or bikini. I felt i needed something that would help me to feel better and more confident about myself.
From a financial point of view there actually wasn't much difference to having the surgery here, by the time you take in the additional costs of travel and flights but I felt that that Dr Yunus had so much more experience than any of the surgeons that i had consulted with here.
So my day of travel arrived and I wasn't nervous at all. I travelled alone as unfortunately I didn't have anybody that could take the time out to come with me, Mia had assured me that I would be well cared for and I trusted her implicitly. I am not a confident person, to say my family and friends were shocked that I was prepared to do this alone is an understatement haha...
A lovely gentleman met me in arrivals at Istanbul and drove me to the hospital. The flight had been delayed so it was late in the evening. I was greeted at the hospital entrance by a lovely girl ( sorry I can't remember her name) she spoke perfect English and helped with my admittance into the hospital. We did my pre op bloods and lung x-ray then got me settled into my room. The following morning I had an ecografia on my breasts and and ecg. The results of my ECG were not 100% so before I knew it i was taken off for a consultation with a professor of cardiology. Again he was an absolutely charming and lovely man who also spoke English extremely well. He did a scan and thoroughly explained that I have a mild heart issue, nothing to worry about but to have it checked yearly. He then gave his consent for me to go ahead with surgery, with only a mild increased risk.
Back to my hospital room and to meet with Dr Yunus. What a lovely man he is! Obviously highly intelligent, educated and a very skilled surgeon yet he remains extremely humble, kind, gentle and caring. Not at all what you would expect from somebody in his position. He marked me up and agreed that in his opinion it would be better in the circumstances to remove the implants and perform a lift, i did ask if we could do a fat transfer to them but he explained that personally he would prefer to not do that at the moment and to give my breasts the opportunity to heal from the trauma they have been under for a while and to reevaluate a few months down the line and see what we are naturally dealing with then.
I awoke from surgery in my hospital room and was crying ( this is quite normal for me coming out of anesthesia) I was not alone however, one of the nurses ( again I'm so sorry I feel ashamed that I don't remember her name) was sat beside me, holding my hand and wiping my tears. What an angel, you can never put a price on the genuine kindness that I received during my time in the hospital. All the nurses showed me exceptional kindness but in that moment when I felt very alone, in pain a little disoriented this beautiful soul helped me through it in a way I could never explain.
The following day Dr Yunus came to visit, he explained that everything had gone well, the implants had broken and leaked, therefore it was more complicated to remove the capsule, damaged tissue and silicone, he said that it was the best decision to remove them completely and allow them time to heal. Unfortunately the right breast does look a little different to the left but that was the most affected, it was very hard and had raised significantly. I just have to be patient and trust the process, which I am confident and prepared to do.
He also explained that due to my hemoglobin levels dropping during surgery that I need to receive a blood transfusion. I do suffer with anemia and had taken an abundance of supplements over the past months prior to surgery but it obviously wasn't enough. I also needed to receive another transfusion the following day. In total I had three blood tests until the Dr was happy with my results and permitted me to be discharged. I stayed an additional day in hospital so a total of three nights.
It had been recommended to me that I make use of the companion scheme to get settled at the hotel as I was alone. I am so glad I did, Jaime helped me tremendously, she is funny and so kind. She got me set up and even did a little shopping for me so I had all the basics i would need to see me through. The hotel is beautiful, spotlessly clean, comfortable with kind staff and amazing breakfasts. There's also an extensive menu to order room service. Esra came to the room to give me lymphatic massages, I would be lying if I said they were without pain but they are an essential part of the recovery/healing process and Esra is yet another beautiful, kind soul.
For me the drains were the most uncomfortably part of the process. One in particular i found painful, it was to the side and close to my ribs, again they are absolutely essential but the relief when they were eventually removed was glorious!!! Haha
On the Wednesday prior to my travelling home early on the Thursday I was collected from the hotel and taken the hospital to meet with the Dr for my final check. Everything good, again we discussed the shape of my right breast and he assured me it will settle and if not we will sort it at a later date. I trust him and his entire team.
I also met properly with Yasmin, you will have heard her mentioned in other reviews. She is, I believe Dr Yunus' right hand woman. What everybody says is absolutely true, she is a diamond. A forever cheerful little pocket rocket, she has the most caring, incredible energy. Even though she is incredibly busy making sure everything runs like clockwork, she makes you believe you are her only priority. Never fails to answer even the most mundane of questions, regularly checks in to see how I am doing, as does Mia. They are an absolute delight and such an asset to the team.
I flew home early on Thursday morning, Jaime bless her had suggested I get assistance at the airport and I stupidly thought I would be fine. In truth it was very hard, lots and lots of queueing, mass amounts of walking to the gate, nowhere to sit and rest. When I eventually landed at Barcelona there was a 2 hour delay in getting the cases onto the carousel, followed by a five hour drive home. I was struggling at the end of it all and felt like I was going to combust with the swelling.. I can laugh now but at the time it wasn't good.. My advice would be " Please get assistance at the airport!!!"
A week back home and the swelling is subsiding, I have ankle bones again, the discomfort is significantly less, I can see my new, far improved shape and it is already looking amazing!!
I can not recommend Dr Yunus and his whole team enough. They are thorough, professional, kind and make you feel like a member of their family. The hospital is top notch, the hotel is beautiful and everything ran seamlessly.
When I have mentioned going to Turkey for cosmetic surgery, both friends and family were incredulous, saying that I was being stupid and taking a ridiculous risk. They behaved as if i was opting to travel to a third world country!!! How wrong and ignorant they are. I received outstanding care and treatment in a beautiful, cosmopolitan city with a fantastic surgeon that far exceeded anything that i have received in private hospitals both in Spain and the UK. Apologies for the very long review but I felt compelled to post about my wonderful journey thus far.... I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful team and will certainly be returning in the future xx
