An Amazing Experience in Some of my Darkest Hours

I had done a significant amount of research on the procedure I was in need of (explant with en bloc total capsulectomy). I knew Dr. Buinewisz was my surgeon as soon as I left my consultation, and all other consultations were cancelled that very same day. I was torn between traveling to Florida or California from Pennsylvania as this is where two of the highly recommended surgeons are located and their work looked impeccable. Dr. Buinewisz was also highly recommended which is why he was one I consulted with. Dr. B was the only surgeon out of three that choose to take a more conservative approach with my procedure and this is mainly what sold me. I was/am (I am only 12 days post-op) going through an extremely challenging time both physically and mentally with having to remove my breast implants. I wanted them removed but also wanted them to look beautiful (24 years of 720cc implants and I wanted to remove them and look perfect). I wanted instant gratification in one procedure. Due to the high risk of performing mastoplexy at explant on me, Dr. B recommended I wait 6 months to heal from explant and to see how I felt about things at that point. He assured my we could do a lift at that time or a small FT if necessary. The other two surgeons were going to do both surgeries together. This is were I realized what was best for me, my wants for instant gratification were not justified if it meant risking my health. I could always fix things in 6 months if need be and honestly a lift might not have been warranted in the first place but I would not be able to know this until I saw myself 6 months down the road. The cost would not be much of a difference so he could have chosen to do both at once incase I didn’t return but that is not what Dr. B is about. He truly cares about his patients and wants to see them happy. His bedside manner is unmatched to any physician I’ve met.

Have you ever had a surgeon hold your hand in the operating room while your anesthesiologist is pumping you full of medication to place you to sleep?? It’s a very fearful moment as thoughts run through your mind, all while you are cold and alone in a room full of strangers, wishing your loved one could be by your side. Well, Dr. B is the surgeon who will not allow you to feel that way as he will ease your fears hold your hand in those last seconds before you fall asleep. This speaks volumes to so many of us who have witnessed this experience.

Dr. Buinewisz is also triple board certified - he is a very rare find in many ways, and a true gem of a person, professional and surgeon.
