To be honest I wasn't sure what to expect from an aesthetic perspective but getting the implants out has been a great decision. I am feeling so much better and able to continue my life as an athlete with no side effects. The pain initially was far more than I expected but 3 months on I have no pain whatsoever. I look forward to the end of the year when my scars have faded and my breasts have settled in. Although they don't look great naked, my breasts look perfect in a bra. Dr Ashok and his staff were absolutely fantastic. My fears were addressed and he was always available for advice when needed.

Help. I'm 54 years old. I had silicone implant with lift in 2/2014. I have not explanted because i am interviewing to find the best here in Florida. Can you tell me if you had a full capsulectomy removal. the procedure i think is also called en-bloc. Did you have a lift when you explanted? or did you have lift when implanted and the dr didn't need to lift? Was the pain post surgery the same as when you implanted? I'm not sure of you have written about any of this before, so please pardon me. Thanks for responding!

Hi! Myturn - I just saw your post you've only had your implants a few years so it's to be hoped your capsules are soft and can stay in unless you're having symptoms. Healing and aesthetic outcome seem to be better if the capsules stay in. I had silicone implants for Kore than 20 years and I believed they were making me ill so mine came out ( a few times with each revision and expkant). Having the capsules removed can be more traumatic to the tissues which makes you more susceptible to contour irregularities and surgical adhesions which are a pain in the butt. I have an area that adhered to my chest wall and it's in the midlife of my right beast. Massage is helping to soften but I will likely seek out surgical intervention at some point. I wouldn't have changed having the capsules out because my health is so much better and I feel good that the silicone particles are out of my body but just so you ask whomever you see to fully describe the risks of each aspect of this surgery. I had no idea that adhesions could form - my PS didn't tell me (and I didn't ask). I'd recommend seeing several board certified doctors in your area. You'll know when you've found the right one! Best of luck on your journey. It's totally worth it!

May I ask why your scars go down instead of under the breast? Is this from a lift?
On 1/12/17 it'll be 3 months for me. I'm so happy to have mine gone!

Congrats on your decision. Did it really cost almost $20,000 to get them removed? Can I ask why it was so much more than getting implants in the first place?
