2017 Breast Implant and 2019 Breast Explant- Explant Nearly Killed Me

$9,800
In 2017 Dr. Saltz implanted me with textured silicone implants. She said she was implanting Sientra however, when I explanted they were Silimed, the ones recalled from the Brazil plant and they were past the 5 year shelf life. Prior to that, in 1998 her colleague implanted PIP, but didn't tell me they were recalled either.
I explanted 10/3/2019 with Dr. Saltz (bad move to go to your implanting surgeon or anyone who isn't an explant specialist)
I experienced issues within weeks of 2017 implant with Saltz. I had Baker III contrature, multiple health issues. My health declined within weeks. I went into surgery as a whole food plant based athlete, competing in 2 sports, 1 being triathlon.
I got so sick with brain fog, vertigo, tinitus, breast tenderness (to the point I couldn't be touched), stomach issues, acne, sleep disturbances, severe fatigue, hair loss, dry hair, dry skin, sensitivity to all skin products with any silicone or silica ingredients, reaction to silicone watch bands, body rashes.....the list goes on and on.
I decided within 2 years of implant that they needed to come out. I had not really done much research on breast implant illness so I didn't know to go to an explant specialist, and I went to Saltz to remove them.
I was bleeding out when I got home from surgery, fainted 3 times from blood loss (bleeding out the surgery site), I called the office and they said not to come in or seek medical attention. I then ended up talking babble and scared the crap out of my husband. I have had about 15 surgeries, so this was not a common occurance or anything I have ever experienced. I then ended up getting an infection and also seromas that had to be aspirated 3 times over the next 3 weeks. At the 3 week mark I had horrible adhesions in the breast she removed much of my own tissue and did not do enbloc. I was even sized before implants. She provided no help or guidance for treating the adhesion. I found a physical therapist to work with, absolutely no follow up to care after the post op appointment even though I went in to the office because of this issue. I had some discharge too and had to beg to be seen and have them run any labs.
The office will be as nice and responsive as possible up to surgery. once surgery is done, no follow up, no call backs when you call with issues, once they get their money you are out the door.
The reason I am posting this is that both experiences with Saltz were not good. She talked me into textured silicone (now has a black box label), no discussion of possible issues outside of surgery risks and she even told me she has had hers for over 20 years and they don't need to be replaced, they are lifetime, which is incorrect and against the FDA and manufacturer guidelines. I wasn't given any pamphlet information or followed or tracked. I wasn't told I will need an MRI every year, as required by the FDA.
Do your research before doing any procedure and check reviews. If you are planning to explant, please find a surgeon who is trained and proficient with explant.
By the way I submitted a review after surgery to Real Self via the link sent from the doctor, shocking how that review was never posted here or on her website as it wasn't positive.

Thank you for sharing your story (and resharing after realself didn't post the first time). You should report your doctor to the medical board. Thank God you are alive.
So did you ever have to go elsewhere and remove the capsules? Sorry for your bad experience. Hang in there and take care.
