Prior to the implants, I was an A cup and after the implants a C cup. I breastfed 2 children. After 15 years with the implants, priorities changed as well as my self confidence and I was just over them. I didn't have any issues with the implants other than occasional discomfort and limited movement when it came to exercising.
I got them removed under local anesthesia. My doctor recommended the removal without a lift. It was a rather simple procedure. My doctor and his staff were awesome and I felt comfortable with my decision to go with the least invasive procedure. I felt a little bit of tugging during the procedure and that was about it.
The recovery wasn't too bad. I was sore for a few days, but I could still do everyday activities. The appearance of my breasts were initially devastating. They were deflated and concave on the sides. They didn't look better until about 2 weeks into recovery. I wore my compression wrap all day for about 2 weeks and after that only wore it at night. I'm about 5 weeks into recovery and I still wear my compression wrap at night.
I am so happy with the results! I think they look better without the implants. I feel better and my chest feels lighter. I didn't have any medical issues related to the implants, but I can honestly say I do feel more energized and overall, healthier without the implants.
I was really hesitant at first about removing them and constantly went online to look at before and after pics and other women's reviews. After all of the stress I put myself through worrying about it, it all worked out in the end. I do not regret removing them. My advice to others is to find a doctor you can trust and that will give you an honest and realistic outlook with options. My doctor gave me 3 options with varying prices, but he recommended the least invasive and least expensive option with some assurance that they would like fine and if I was unhappy with the outcome, I can always opt for additional surgery after healing. This website was very helpful for me in making my decision and I'm thankful for the women who have shared their experiences. I hope this review is helpful to those considering removal and I am happy to answer any questions about my experience.
The photos are one month before surgery and 5 weeks after surgery.
