Mostly Positive; Affordable Pricing

I underwent a breast fat transfer with Dr. Kara and his team to correct a one cup size asymmetry, approximately 5 months ago now. Experience: My experience was mostly pleasant, Dr. Kara has consultants who assist you in choosing which surgery is right for you (almost a sales person role). I met with the Dr. once before surgery, and he was sure to keep me very realistic about my expectations and identified several other methods that might be appropriate. Ultimately I went with the procedure I had been researching for a number of years. In terms of pricing, because I was having the fat transfer to only one breast, I received a $2000 discount which was great. Compared to three other surgeons in the GTA, Dr. Kara was the most affordable. Surgery: Surgery day was stressful for me, as my procedure was delayed by about two hours, but no one contacted me to tell me this. Due to COVID, I had to enter the hospital alone. I tried calling the office but my surgery was scheduled on a Saturday, so no one answered. Basically I was left in limbo very nervous about going under the knife for the first time. That said -- once I was in and with the medical team, everyone was fantastic, so professional, and made me feel very much at ease. I woke up in the recovery room and had the kindest nurse ever there to support me. Results: Recovery was not bad at all! Really it was the lipo that was much more invasive than the fat transfer, there was a lot of leakage the first couple nights (as I was warned by the clinic.) I was out walking my dog again by day 4 -- that being said I'm in my 20s so I'm sure this would be different for everyone. After a month of wearing a compression garment, my results were definitely becoming visible. At the 5 month mark, my breasts are similar in volume, but the smaller one doesn't have the same projection as my natural, larger breast. Dr. Kara was sure to warn me about this, and I'm ok with it as implants were not really an option I was interested in. If I had all the money in the world I would probably undergo this procedure a second time, but as of now I'm pleased enough with the results. I would say I'm slightly less pleased with the lipo. It's fantastic to have gone down a few waist sizes, but I do feel like it looks like I've had lipo -- what I mean by this is that areas that naturally have fatty deposits (like the spot right under the belly button where most women have a little lump) is now concave. I was hoping that the fat distribution would still look proportionate, and while no one will notice this on me clothed, it is something I see every time I'm naked now. Perhaps this wouldn't bother most people, but something to keep in mind/discuss with your doctor. I didn't really get a chance to discuss my lipo goals with Dr. Kara as we were very much focused on improving the breast asymmetry, so if you're undergoing this procedure it's definitely something to think about. My scars are tidy and minimal. Bonus: if you have surgery with Dr. Kara, you're eligible for a free laser scar treatment at one of his clinics, which I have yet to do due to COVID.
