HONEST Straight Up REVIEW of Fat Transfer to Breast - Dr Bednar
I want to keep this straightforward and to the point of my personal experience of fat transfer to breast with Dr Bednar. I have chosen to not put up any photos simply for personal choice, I know these do help, but I would rather not have my photos out there. But rather If I can give someone a bit more insight or information who may be considering this procedure, then I’m happy with that.
The main overall question, was it worth it for me personally? No.
PROS
No large scar vs classic under breast scar for implants
No foreign objects in your body
Great pre-enquiry communication with Sylvia (Dr Bednar’s wife)
CONS
SCARS - I have scars in other parts of my body where the fat is harvested, lower back and under each butt whereas implants you would just have the 2 x scars under each breast/at point of insertion. I have 5 x smaller scars over my body.
LIPO - Too aggressive lipo on hips has left a slight indent where my “muffin top” fat should be (I never had a muffin top but the fat in that area). Basically there is my upper glute muscle then it dips in as you come to my hip when is should be a smooth curve. The fat taken from the back of my thigh is again not smooth, I have slight indents here too.
SIZE - Breasts are slightly increased in size - I still wear all my same bras, they are just more filled out. If you don’t have the perfect shaped or balanced breast to begin with eg. pointy, sloped, uneven, droopy, you basically have your same breasts but a bit bigger (have read this in other reviews as well).
RECOVERY - This was quite painful, I have a high pain tolerance but it was really painful in the lipo areas. You are out of action for physical activity for 3 months. But this would have been worth it if I had achieved my ideal breasts - I did not set huge or unrealistic results but for the time, money and what I’m left with, I do not translate the value to being worth it.
CONSULTS - Phone and in-person consults and follow ups didn’t feel that personal, kind of running down the list of info that he’s has to recite 100’s of times for people who are interested in this procedure. He talks a lot and it’s hard to get a word in (have read this in other reviews as well). It is very much going to go down as what he wants to do, so even though I believe a woman/man In the right frame of mind knows their body best because they live with it day in and day out, it won’t really be taken into consideration. Granted he’s earned his status through years of surgery and training etc, but it does feel like at the end of the day he will do what he wants and thinks will work even if it doesn’t turn out that way which was what happened in my case.
SURGERY DAY - Felt really rushed both pre and post. It’s the nurse who gave the most care and information when you are prepping and the Dr comes in for 5mins prior, draws his lines and then you’re walking straight in to the surgery table. My carer who picked me up was scared because I was out of it from the drugs and had been vomiting and they were being told they had to take me (this I do not remember). But I do remember vomiting in the car and hours after to the following day.
POST SURGERY FOLLOW UPS - Again felt really rushed and impersonal, a few points noted and observed but not much, Dr just scanned my body in the 3D thing and then I was off. Honestly may have taken 5mins if that.
TIME, MONEY AND TRAVEL - For me not being a local, a lot of time, money and travel went into this venture (I would say $22-$25k). This is a lot of money that I will not get back.
So OVERALL to answer my question again of do I think it was worth it for me personally taken all of the above? No.
I could be a lot more angry, upset and sad by the negative things I’m left on my body as well as not even getting the results I was after for my breast. But I’m not a believer in regretting and dwelling on things, I did it, it’s done. Can’t take it back, so it is what it is and I live with it.
Do I feel I could have spent less somewhere closer to home and gone the implants route and got the results I was wanting and not had other parts of my body affected negatively? Yes. I’m not saying there aren’t complications and down sides to implants but having the results I have now with all I went through, I would have considered implants more favourable back then.
Do your own research and take the time to do so whatever route/surgery you are doing as it’s your body, your time, and your money.
But that is just my experience wrapped up in quick points - I could have delved in a lot deeper and said a lot more things, but again I don’t want to let live being angry and upset about things. Again, what’s done is done and if I can just give a few people that bit more info then it’s all good.
If you read to the end - well done! I hope you got something out of it. :)
