Picture updates

Going to make this quick—sorry about the poor quality pictures. We try our best, right? Anyway, the biggest improvement is for sure what Dr. White said right away when we first met—by raising the inframmary fold it would both make my breasts higher on my chest and position the nipples into a better position (more functional in clothing and more attractive shape instead of that weird, long pancake look). She also fixed the screwed up nipple, which looks so much better! I wish I could get better before/after pics of the sides though because she cleaned them up a ton so I don’t have word side-boob issues or those jagged and puffy dog ears anymore.
It’s interesting because they don’t actually look bigger but they fill out bras so much better now that they’re at the appropriate place on my chest. Raising them and fixing the sides all makes me look younger, thinner had like I have better posture. I probably should post a full torso one to show that better.
Anyway, all in all, I’m very happy. Even though I can’t exactly see where the fat transfer went, they’re a huge improvement over before. I feel like a woman again.
I would like to do another surgery, once I have the time and money set aside, if it would help to make them more full on top, but if I had to stop here, I’d be very content.
This whole experience has been very positive and I would do it agin in a heartbeat.

Results are looking fab!

Okay so we’re at 10ish weeks. The last month and a half has been a little intense because I had some healing issues in my armpits, one more intense than the other. However, between seeing my wound care doc every week and Dr. White and her staff having me come in frequently, the last little opening is smaller than a pencil eraser now. I think cranking up the protein, zinc and vitamin C and spending a lot of time doing low-intensity exercise helped a ton.

Anyway, I didn’t talk about results much last time so I’ll go for it now. I feel like there are 3 elements to liking your boobs: how you look in clothes, how you look in a bra and how you look nude.

I was worried for a while because, while they looked great, I had a heck of a time finding a bra and thought maybe they ended up too small. Now I know it was probably because of the swelling along the sides where she took that dreaded side-boob tissue away…which Dr. White’s amazing nurse Amy predicted over a month ago. Well, I went bra shopping with a friend yesterday and ended filling out a few C cups and a D (!!!), a relief after going from a J/K to a weirdly shaped B/Cish thing 7 years ago. NORMAL BRAS! I fit into normal bras!!! Until enough swelling came down that I found some bras that work, I was pretty worried. Next time Amy predicts something, I’ll ask for lottery numbers too—she was spot on.

As far as how they look with nothing on: AMAZING. The nipples are pointing the right way, they’re perky, the curve along the bottom and the sides is beautiful and they’re a little higher on my chest than before. They’re sisters, not twins, with the right one being a tiny bit bigger (they were always asymmetrical), but she got them pretty darn close. The nipple repair she did looks amazing. If I were comparing myself to someone with implants, I’d probably say I have less upper pole fullness than I’d want but, considering they’re 100% natural, I’m very happy.

Tummy tuck revision looks amazing! How on earth Dr. White fixed that butchery I came in with and actually gave me a cute mid-section, especially considering I’m a bigger girl, I have no idea. Artistry or wizardry? Both? The belly button looks good and, while the thin red incision line around it isn’t so appealing, I know it’s still healing and, based on past scars, should fade to be almost invisible after a year.

One thing I had totally forgotten about until today (except that it’s been a little numb) was that she did some lipo on my backside. She showed me, at the initial consult, what that would do, but I guess I hadn’t been paying attention, what with the breasts and the armpits. Whatever she did, I was getting dressed to go out on a date tonight, looked in the mirror, and my butt looks amazing in these pants now! She didn’t even touch my butt! What kind of magic is this? Whatever she did with the lipo above the butt to manage that, well, I’m very impressed.

Overall, this has been an excellent choice. Dr. White is a plastic surgery badass with a heart of gold and office staff to match.

I’ll post some pictures after my next check-in at the beginning of April. :-)

Already Feeling Like a New Person!

I didn’t know how to classify this one because I had a few things fixed and a few things added on. She fixed a botched breast reduction, re-built a nipple that was lost, did some fat transfer to the breasts, made a new belly button, improved the position of a really high and jagged TT scar lower abdomen, fixed the entire contour of my lower abdomen from the prior surgery, lipo on the flanks, took extra tissue off the sides of my upper torso, took some floppiness off my upper arms…and I think that’s it. That’s a lot, actually! Anyway...

I’m two weeks post-op and have been amazed by my experiences so far. While I can’t talk about the results yet, what with swelling and everything being so fresh, what I see so far looks very promising.

The process through pre-op appointments was smooth and easy. I could tell that I was in good hands: safe and well cared for throughout. From check-in at the surgery center on the day of surgery to my stay there, I had a wonderful experience as well. Everyone, from the nurses I saw right before surgery to the staff at the surgery center during my stay, were very fond of my surgeon and this showed me that she cares about the people who work around and with her patients, and that she has a tremendous heart.

The highlight so far has been that some of her staff have stood out in their compassion, kindness, professionalism and high-quality care. Isan, who works at the front desk is always warm, welcoming and authentic. Amy, the RN that I’ve been seeing since surgery, and who helped me prep for the whole experience, stands out as one of the best nursing professionals I’ve ever met. The nature of this kind of surgery is that there are a lot of incisions and places that need to be looked after to help minimize risks as we heal. Surgical healing can look surprising, scary and bizarre to those of us who don’t work in the medical field, but Amy has given me the education, support and tools to help me know I’m doing everything right in caring for myself through this process. What stands out most, though, in her patient care, is how she blends precision and gentleness in everything from taking surgical tape residue off of an area to packing a little hole where I ripped a stitch. Whenever I’ve seen her for an appointment, I’ve always walked out knowing that nothing’s going to fall off or come out of place, and that I’m well looked after.

I do want to take a moment to talk about Dr. White as well. As I said before, I don’t know what everything’s going to look like after the months of healing ahead, but what I see so far (without going into detail) has the signature of attention to detail, deep understanding of the body and feminine form, and overall competence that makes me grateful to have chosen her. To be able to take a patient whose body has been through a damaging experience in the past, mend what happened, and do it in a way that’s shaping up to be beautiful, takes a rare gift. She also cares about her staff immensely, as though they’re her own family.

I’ve also been impressed by their policy, listed in the post-op book and repeated to me on various occasions, to reach out with any questions or concerns about the surgery or how it’s healing, whenever I need to. Same thing for how often I’ve been offered, without asking, frequent post-op care appointments to check in and monitor recovery.

This whole experience, and the way the results are turning out, is beyond my expectations. I feel like I can finally close the door on what happened six years ago and can look in the mirror with joy and my dignity back going forward.

Overall, I’ve had many positive experiences. Will post a follow-up in the coming months!
