Bednar Gave Me Boobies!!!

My journey with Fat transfer actually began in 2016 when I had my breast implants removed due to health reasons. The explantation of the implants left me with adhesions (muscles attached to rib and tissue in the wrong places) and really empty and deflated looking breasts. I had barely any breast tissue to begin with when I first received implants 10 years prior, so removing the capsules from my breasts along with the implants during surgery, it took away some of my natural breast tissue with it. I was left really really self conscious with my new explanted breasts but I wanted to wait a year to fully heal and see how they would look during that time. They did get a little bit better, but they were still really awful and I never even showed my husband once during that year. Can you imagine not showing your husband your breasts for a full year? It was pretty traumatic.
So during that year after explant, I REALLY dug deep into the research for fat transfer. I joined the groups on FB for it to get more insight and finally stumbled across a fellow beauty who had her fat transfer with Dr. Bednar and I was blown away at her results. She started with explanted breasts just like mine, and her "after" results were exactly what I was hoping for. Nothing too big or overstated. Just simply normal, healthy looking plumped up breasts that weren't saggy and deflated beyond recognition. I contemplated scheduling a consultation for a while. It actually took a month or so before I just pulled the trigger and contacted Dr. Bednar's office. I'll tell ya, they are extremely attentive, on top of everything, and super friendly and personable at Dr. Bednar's office. They really know what they are doing there, and that is a HUGE reason I knew that was where I was meant to have my surgery.
Once I had my consult with Dr. Bednar over the phone (I had sent Sylvia, the office manager my photos for Dr. B to review) I just knew in my heart that he was the surgeon who was going to be able to get my boobies looking normal again! So I immediately booked my surgery and paid my deposit (half the total cost) and then booked my flight!
In the meantime, the office sent me a package with all these goodies including, pre and post op supplements, a post op comfy bra (kind of like a sports bra but stretchy), prescriptions to fill for post op steroids, pain meds, anti nausea and anti constipation meds etc, a "Go girl" peeing tube so you can urinate while standing and staying in your crotchless garment, and some instructions and information about your surgery.
I ended up flying my husband and my two kids along with me just because I was too scared of flying by myself or leaving my family behind.
We rented and AirBNB on a lake close by and it was beautiful there!!!!
Went to my preop appt the day before my surgery and asked a couple questions, they did a few things and I filled out some paperwork as well. The next morning we went to the clinic and they got me all hooked up to everything and feeling relaxed and confident about the surgery. I talked to Joel who reallllly calmed my fears about anesthesia, and Kendall who was just an absolute sweetie who also shares the same interests as I do, as well as Sou who was adorable and smart all at the same time. I just felt like I was around family, and it just felt right!
Dr. B marked me up and did my surgery and I was out of surgery before I knew it. Was coming out of anesthesia pretty quickly and got in the car with the help of Kendall and I was acting silly on the ride back to the Air BnB. Once back at the house, I was totally out of anesthesia and hubby got my bed ready and ice packs for me to lay down. I didn't feel sick AT ALL. I was actually already hungry so I ate some organic prune baby food, a banana, and drank a bunch of water. I think I even ate some bone broth as well. Anyways, I didn't take any pain meds whatsoever. I just took the steroids and that's it. I wanted to ensure the swelling stayed under control. The first night was a learning experience because I realized I needed to have my feet elevated pretty much constantly and also needed to keep icing my legs non stop. So the second day I was a little more swollen in my legs because I didn't know better. So the next night I had my legs elevated and iced it up big time and the 3rd day I was much better. We actually ended up going to the NASCAR race in Charlotte on that 3rd or 4th day ( can't remember exactly which day) and I did totally fine! We stayed a whole week in North Carolina. We even met up with friends who were staying there too and we went to a brewery as well. I of course didn't have anything to drink there. (No alcohol for 3 months, it kills blood supply to the transferred fat!).
We got first class tickets on the plane ride home, so that was nice to have extra leg room, yummy meals and just a better experience all around while flying.
Once I got home to my home State, it was all about healing and waiting for the swelling to go down and bruising to go away. It took a couple weeks for all the bruising to go completely away. Most of the swelling went away quickly for the most part, but over the next couple months it went away completely. My boobs I feel didn't lose fat. I feel they just were swollen in the beginning, and once the swelling went away, they settled into a nice natural shape and size. Overtime they got softer and more natural feeling. Over the next year, my boobs remained the same. I did get a few little lumps of scar tissue (totally normal, especially for someone who had explant surgery with adhesions) and I also developed a fluid filled fat cyst in my left breast. Again, totally normal. I got an ultrasound on my breasts and the technician as well as Dr. Bednar (yes he reviewed my ultrasound results AND called me to go over them with me).
Everything is fine and I will probably get the cyst drained if I go for a second round of fat transfer. I am happy with my boobies and I have come a long way from where I started with my breasts, but I would also love to have one more fat transfer to get them a little fuller and fix some residual adhesions.
So, the lipo results. WOW. Just WOW. Dr. Bednar is king of lipo I swear! He really knows exactly how to sculpt, how to make non existent lipo incision scars, and how to not give bumps or lumps! I am really impressed with this. The fact that he can perform two amazing surgeries in one, is astounding!
I am now 1 year and 3 months post op from fat transfer, and the fat is still there in my boobs. Not going anywhere! It's here to stay ; -)
I am forever grateful for Dr. Bednar and his amazing staff for changing my life!

thanks for sharing your story! I have a similar situation and am thinking about fat transfer. I had my implants removed about 4 years ago, and I have a lot of skin, similar to the pics you posted. I think I only want a little bit filled in, but thanks for posting your pics!

Thank you so much for sharing this. I also have a lot of scar tissue post explant. I have my procedure with Dr. B scheduled for March and this just gave me so much hope and confidence that I've made the right choice.
I'm really sorry you had to go through all of this. I know how much it sucks. You look amazing though! Congrats and thanks again!

Hi everyone, i had a second transfer two weeks ago and I’m loving my results so far!
My first fat transfer really gave me a good foundation and helped fill the irregularities pretty well, but there were still some things that needed tweaking...

Congratulations! How much fat has been transferred to each breast this time? Had my procedure last Thursday and I'm thrilled! To my surprise, my breasts are soft already, almost no bruising, no swelling... I'm so afraid they will shrink since they are perfect right now!

435 cc in each breast
They are soft already with no bruising or swelling? That’s crazy! I’ve never heard of that before!

My swelling and bruising started 4 days after surgery, especially my breasts swelled enormously - I cheered too soon...

Thank you for sharing !! I've been following your fat transfer and wonder how much fat do you need to have in the first place to draft and transfer? You seem to not had have much before your first procedure. Do you think you can retain that volume over the years? Do you still have scars from the first procedure? I am debating between beats implants and fat transfer, but I'm athletic with not much fat. I might get a bit fatter before my procedure but I am afraid to gain cellulite that I will not be able to get rid of later. Would really appreciate your answers / thoughts on the above. Thank you and godspeed with your recovery!

Implants made my health go downhill quickly! I would Never recommend getting implants.
My doctor is able to get fat from even the thinnest patients. The fat that remains after 3 months should be permanent.

If you don’t mind me asking, was the cost of the second round of fat grafting the same as the first? My swelling has gone down and it looks like my denting and animation deformity is more prominent so I think a second round might be in my future :(
I also didn’t have like any bruising compared to you so I’m a little worried my adhesions weren’t really addressed as much which is frustrating if that’s the case.

The second transfer is $7500 with Dr Bednar if you had your first with him and not another surgeon.
And my second transfer, i didn’t have much of any bruising at all! Honestly it just depends on your body at that given moment. I was expecting bruising more since i had lots of bruising the first round.

Thank you for sharing your journey on here, I know it isn't easy. I'm so glad to see you have retained most of the fat and your abs and torso are amazing I can't believe you've had two kids!

Hey sorry to keep coming to you with questions but we have very similar histories.
I’m curious as to what your experience with your scar tissue was after the initial 3 month fat establishment period. I still have lots of adhesion and movement and Dr. B says that might improve during the remodeling phase that takes place after the first 3 months. Did you notice any changes or improvements post the initial 3 months of healing?
I’m trying to be patient haha but it’s so hard with these wait and see things.
Thanks again for your help!
