Breast Fat Transfer for 28 Yo Asian Female
WORTH IT$11,500
Hello everyone! I usually am not big on writing reviews but wanted to write this to help anyone else interested in breast fat transfer specifically w/ Dr. Edward Bednar. I started this journey back in April researching other physicians in many areas. My first consultation was with a plastic surgeon back in Denver (my hometown). She was great and the consultation was great but she said that I did not have enough fat to transfer more than 200cc into each breast. With the percent of rat retained, I believe that would correlate to about 1/2 a cup if that. Then I looked at a few places in beverly hills. Not only were these places extremely expensive (quoted 17,000) but I felt as though some of the surgeons there were not that focused on just breast fat transfer and seemed to do more implants which is something I was not interested in. Then I went on the realself and saw that Dr. Bednar's name came up for many of the reviews so I scheduled a consultation. At first, I spoke mostly with Dr. Bednar's wife sylvia who was absolutely lovely! I emailed them my consultation photos on a friday night and she got back to me that night! I was amazed! I have my phone conversation with Dr. Bednar the following week. He took the time to go over the entire procedure and the science behind it which I really appreciate it as I am in the medical field. After a few conversations with him and his wife sylvia, I scheduled the appointment/preop etc. I ended up having to change the surgery date about a month in advance and they were amazing about it! no problems at all! Next thing you know I got a care package in the mail with pre-op instructions, supplements, after scar care etc. It was very thorough and I felt extremely supported :)
A few weeks later I was flying to Charlotte with my mom for the appointment. I had my preop appointment on 9/19/19 and my surgery scheduled for 9/20/19. During my preop appointment I met sou who was sooooo amazing! She spent almost 2 hours with us just answering out questions and going over everything. She knew I was nervous and so she took her time making sure I had all my questions asked. Then I met with Joel (CRNA) who was also amazing! After speaking with him my nerves calmed almost completely. Next I met with Dr. Bednar who was so wonderful. He went over the procedure and drew on me to see where to take fat from. At that point, I knew I was in the right place!
After the pre-op appointment, I headed back to the hotel and took a valium and went right to sleep ;) we headed to the doctor's office at 10am the next day. They gave me norco, prilosec, and zofran. They then started my IV for fluid hydration and gave me the steroid and antibiotics through the IV (by Kendal- also amazing!). After a few hours, Dr. Bednar came in again drew on me and asked if I had any more questions which at that point all of my questions had been answered so thoroughly! We then walked back to the OR suite and Joel was there to greet me and gave me I believe some ativan and fentanyl thorugh the IV. I think Joel probably pushed propofol at that point because I was out! The next thing I remember was getting into the shuttle with my mom and heading to the hotel. Got back to the hotel and sat for about an hour and got up to go to the bathroom. To be completely honest, I was terrified about the pain but the pain was so manageable! (my period cramps hurt worse haha) it just feels like there is pressure around your chest and you did a leg day the day before. After about an hour back at the hotel, I was walking around just fine (a little unstable from the medications but walking around actually felt a lot better than laying down). I was so surprised at how little pain I had! They must have controlled the pain really well intraoperatively. I did however throw up just once but took the zofran and didn't have any nausea/vomiting after. My mom called Dr. Bednar to check and make sure that was ok (I think we were just a bit nervous). He was so nice and assured us that it was fine. Then I slept a bit and kept getting up to go for little walks which really helped! Walking around is the key!! Then Dr. Bednar called us himself at about 11pm to check on me, Can you believe that?? he called at 11pm on a friday just to see how I was doing! We were completely blown away :0
Anyways today is post op day one and I still have a bit of nerve pain (like you had a workout) in my legs and lower back and some pressure on my chest but seriously not bad. I am planning on going shopping today so obviously the pain isn't bad! I will update the review when I take the ace bandage off today!
