Too small, disappointing breast augmentation & would not recommend
ORIGINAL POST
Disappointing - Would Not Recommend
I came to LA from abroad specifically to have a revision breast surgery done by dr. Kim. I had only had a short 10 min call with his Office Manager Christina and I had sent dr. Kim a picture of my breasts. But that's the extent of my contact with him. I arrived to his office the day before surgery and my first impression was horrible. I was honestly seriously considering just canceling the whole thing because of the following: his office and surgery room are in this old, dark and dusty building. Definitely doesn't come across as a medically safe place. His staff is very short with their answers and not welcoming at all, but that didn't bother me as much as his very dismissive attitude. I met with him for 15-20 minutes max, he looked at my breasts and kind of rushed me to decide on the size of the implant. I told him that I wasn't sure, that I had gone too small the first time and would love to see more photos. He just said, you have over a hundred photos on my website, just choose one. I tried to explain that I would like to understand how a certain implant size would look on my frame, my body, my height, and he was very impatient and just kept repeating just choose a photo. Incredibly unprofessional, I was truly shocked by the attitude. He didn't bother to check in one me after surgery so don't expect any bedside manners. The breasts look natural and the shape is nice, definitely better than what I had before. One breast is slightly lower than the other but I assume the swelling still has to go down. What bothers me the most is that the size is not what I hoped for, they are too small. I wish I had insisted more on understanding what a certain implant size means for my body and proportions. I spent $20k USD in total (for the surgery and trip) and I wish I hadn't, it wasn't worth it since I did not get my desired result.

Can you post a picture?

Talking about how what certain implant sizes mean for your body proportion unfortunately doesn't really work. Different implants look different on everyone. I don't know what implant I will choose until I see how you look with sizers in place. Your job as a patient is to show me how big you want to be. Patients ask me all day what size I think fits their body. But of course this doesn't really make sense because everyone has a different idea of what is proportional.
" But doctor you've done so many of these you should know what fits " I hear this all the time. What I know is I can have 10 women with the exact same body and all 10 will think something different is proportional. You need to show me what you think is proportional. This is why the most important thing for me is to see a good photo. Discussing implant sizes doesn't tell me what you want. Its not like I can hold up an implant and say oh this 500 cc implant will make you look like that photo. I can guess but sometimes when the implant is inside it looks very different. But what I tell patients is if you are choosing between two sizes usually picking the bigger size is better. Because not many people come in afterwards and say they look too big or too fake. Some patients insist on limiting the size of the implant. I try to explain to them how I like to do breast augmentation but they insist on limiting how big it will be. This of course is fine but I tell them it may end up being smaller than what they want. I'm not saying this is what happened with you but it is a reason you could end up smaller. In addition if someone's skin is too tight for the size you want it may end up smaller as well. Having said all this if after they drop you think they are too small we could always put in larger implants. I always try my best to make my patients happy. You can email me any time with any concerns.
