So Far So Great!

I am scheduled for breast augmentation in three days with Dr. Tholen. So far my experience with him and his team has been great. He listened to what I wanted without judgment unlike some doctors I consulted with before him, and his team is very knowledgeable, professional, responsive and kind. I appreciated his detailed overview of the process which is very recently updated and on his website. He also provided a printed copy at the consultation and it answered most of my general questions. I love his confidence; he made me feel very comfortable with my decision and choice of him. If I had any con it would be that I wish the office was closer. I will need to commute an hour and 15 minutes but I hope and anticipate it will be well worth it. They also have hotel discounts and can assist with nursing care if you do not have someone who can be with you immediately after. I hated having to sign into the patient portal where all of the documents are signed and information exchange. I wish the portal would remember my device or give an option to stay signed in but that aside they are highly responsive and make you feel as if you are the only patient they have to connect with. The payment process was easy and there are financing options if you need them.
Attached are a few before pictures. I plan to wear the same outfits after to show the difference as I found the reviewers’ pictures on this site extremely helpful in preparing for what may happen - the potential for initial high and tight breasts with a misshapen appearance, as well as bruising, itching, etc. I’m prepared to be patient but also excited And eager to see the end result. I’m excited to share the months’ long journey!

The night before B-Day!!!

I have finished my first Antibacterial wash and likely had my last meal before the big day! I am planning to discuss sizing further tomorrow. Currently we have aligned on 450cc although one may be more or less because I have some unevenness. I am currently a 5’10, 38B with breast width of 16 so I can fit a pretty large-sized implant and am concerned about going too small given that I want a lot of fullness and to try to get my boobs as round as possible since they currently are too triangular for me. I want the push up bra look without the bra! So we shall see if I go up to 525 which I’ve considered previously. I have not shown Dr. Tholen my wish pics yet so we shall see if he thinks my plan for 450cc is the right size given what I want them to look like as opposed to the size I said I want to be. I said a very full D or small DD but obviously I don’t know what that would look like. My wish pics may actually place me at a full DD or something else. I guess it will be decided tomorrow. Attached are my wish pics! Some of his work is amongst them!

And they’re in!

I am one day post op. All went well. I was not in extreme pain. I just had a sensation like I had done too many pushups and some tingling/burning in my breasts similar to what you might feel during your premenstrual episodes. I took half a pill of the narcotic pills as prescribed yesterday after surgery but have not needed them today. I thought I might vomit when I got back to my hotel but that passed after a minute. I never threw up and no other sensations of nausea. I didn’t even feel as out of it as I thought I might. I was able to work on my computer by the evening and get around easily. I also was able to eat pretty soon after which was nice after fasting for the surgery.
One of the most helpful tips I picked up from others on this site was to get straws that bend. I think that helped a lot.
We used the chart the doctor provided to keep track of all the medications. The nurse checked in that night and answered all our questions. They just really made you feel comfortable and confident and took care of you.
Surgery was so easy. I was in by 11 and done with recovery by 2:30pm.
He decided upon 460 cc low profile in each breast because I don’t have a lot of room for a higher profile and cared more about getting nice cleavage than projection. I trusted him to make the choice based on his expertise and it was clear he understood what I was going for based on my wish pics. Unfortunately my wish pics are of people with a very different anatomy than me so he was honest that I’m not likely to get the same bountiful results but he will get me as close as he can. So now I wait to see how mine drop and fluff and how close they can get to the round full look I want given my anatomy and level of droop.
It really is so important to trust your doctor, be clear about what you want, and understand that every person’s body is unique. You can’t look at a person with a certain cc and expect to have the same results by just putting in the same cc. There are so many factors at play. BUT you can look at a person and say you want that fullness or cleavage or projection and your doctor should be honest about what he or she can do for you based on your anatomy. Dr. Tholen was very clear that my breasts would take some work to get the result I wanted or close to it and he would get me as close as possible. I trusted him but was clear I’d rather be bigger than smaller and have better cleavage than projection.
I’m confident they will fill out as I hope but not sure how long it will take.
They are not too high and tight nor as “snoopy dog” as I thought they would be. They were more soft than I thought they would be and I can hear them squish as I’m already working on my implant displacement exercises as instructed. The squishing is a good sign - it means they are settling and not stuck under my muscle! I already can see the cleavage and thankfully was prepared for them to look smaller than anticipated based on the reviews on this site. What I was not prepared for was the compression socks. They can dig into the front of my foot in the front of where the ankle is but you adjust to the feeling quickly. It is used to prevent clotting.
No bruising thus far and incisions look good. I can feel them. Not pain but definitely aware I was cut. It’s kind of a mild tingling.
I’m excited to see how they settle and plan to take good care of myself, be patient and do what I can to help the drop and fluff process!
