Used the wrong suture pattern to close my incisions
ORIGINAL POST
Used wrong suture pattern
Had breast lift and silicone implants placed with Dr. Berman in 2012. I was a 34C at the time. Wanted fuller breast, and he suggested a lift with lollipop incisions. After surgery being a medical professional myself, I noticed he used the wrong suture pattern to close my incisions around the areolar complex and the vertical incision underneath my breast (vertical mattress suture pattern the same type of pattern sutures you get when you visit the ER for a laceration, what we used to call stitches as kids). I knew this was going to heal with railroad track marks around my areolas. Which it did, plus the areolas were not pre portioned to the size of my breast. 50% of my breast was areola. On follow up he looked very surprised at his own work but had no comforting words for my concerns or any solutions to correct the error. It took me a while to recover from this mentally and to muster up the strength/courage to research and find a doctor to correct his surgery. I would not recommend this doctor simply because his work is subpar, and does not use up to date techniques to get at least the standard outcome. Although I had a revision which somewhat improved the look of the first surgery, my options for improvement were limited because of scar tissue and blood supply issues from the first surgery. My advice is to choose your surgeon wisely. Do a lot of research. Speak to other patients who were operated on by that surgeon, and even watch videos on the surgery you plan to have. You only get one body, and one life to live. I do not recommend this surgeon.
