WORTH IT
My surgery is scheduled for Monday and I am so excited! I trust my doctor and have realistic expectations, so I feel confident that I will love my results. Two things I've learned from looking at before and after pics and reading reviews in preparation for my procedure are: 1) boobs almost always look awesome after surgery, but they still look like your boobs, and 2) it's best to trust your surgeon to pick the correct size for your implants based on your desired outcome.

Realizing these two things helped me stop obsessively looking for the perfect "goal pic." It also stopped me from agonizing over a 25-50cc difference in implant size in either direction. I think my doctor knows that women get hung up on these things, since he didn't spend much time with me looking at goal pictures or determining the exact size of implant he'd use. Instead, I told him what I wanted, which was to fill up the empty, loose skin in the upper pole of my breasts from having lost weight over the years. I'm presently a deflated 34B and said I want to be a full C to small D, but achieving a specific cup size is less important to me than filling up the loose skin and maximizing perkiness (without a lift).

I also explained that I'm an avid runner and gym rat, and that I wanted my outcome to be proportionate to my 5'6" tall, 125 pound body. Dr. Tattini took my chest measurements and explained that the width of my chest and space between my breasts meant I needed a wider base, lower profile implant, so he would use mentor moderate plus. He then said a mid-300 range implant would probably work best to fill up the loose skin in my breast, giving me somewhat of a natural lift, and that he would use a dual plan incision technique. The also explained that the implant needed to be large enough to fill up the entire area in my upper breast that had lost volume, and that he'd determine the exact size required to accomplish this by trying sizers on inside of my breast cavity during surgery. His objective, as I understand it, is to make sure the implant is large enough to fill the entire pocket of loose skin without requiring additional stretching, since I've got plenty of empty space to fill!

One constraint of my anatomy, however, is that I have wide set breasts and a prominent, bony sternum. Implants and proper insertion technique will help close the gap, but my breasts will still be wide set after the procedure (i.e., they will look like my breasts and not a picture from the web!). I'm so glad the doctor explained this to me! I felt like he was being honest about what's realistic for the outcome of my procedure. I know my boobs will be bigger and more full afterward, but I accept that they'll sill sag a bit and be wide set. And that's okay! I think they'll also look very natural and proportionate.

I feel great about the Dr. Tattini's plan and am ready for my procedure. His staff, including nurse Elizabeth and office manager Kyle have also been excellent at every step of the way. When I had additional questions and concerns following my pre-op appointment, I emailed them to Elizabeth, she discussed them with the doctor, and she provided me with a thorough response that instantly assuaged my concerns. Then, Kyle has been great every step of the way, including helping me re-schedule some post-op appointments to accommodate my schedule.

I'll post before pics later this weekend.

I am 5’6” inches tall and weigh 125 pounds. I have never breast-fed but have lost weight over the years. I used to fill up a 34C VS bra and still wear this size, but the cups are very loose. I’m hoping that an approximately 350 cc implant will fill up the loose skin and restore some perkiness, unfortunately I don’t think much cleavage can be achieved due to the large gap between my breasts and I accept this.

I had my BA this morning at 8 AM and I am feeling tender/tight in my chest but comfortable and HAPPY. Before my procedure, the doctor went over our plan again. He asked if I still wanted to err on the conservative size if between implant sizes. I said actually, I was comfortable going larger than 350 if that was needed to get the best result considering my wide chest. He ended up going with 370cc and I am so glad he did! He outfitted me with a bra made from surgical tape that I will wear for the next week. They already look amazing, which is a welcome surprise! Considering how saggy my breasts were before, I did not have high hopes. Now I am very hopeful that they will just keep looking better and better and be perfect in the end.
