How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.

Robotic Surgeon & Unprofessional Staff
It's been almost 8 weeks since my surgery and I've had some time to reflect on my experience. Here are a few quick and dirty points I want to get out right from the get-go:
- Dr. Sassan Alavi is a board certified COSMETIC surgeon, NOT a PLASTIC surgeon. He was previously an ENT doctor before his cosmetic surgery residency. It is not uncommon for ENT doctors to perform rhinoplasties and/or facial cosmetic surgeries. But anything below the collar bone tends to be frowned upon. However, he has had many years of experience performing breast augmentation, liposuctions, etc. and his previous work profile is pretty good. Take this information however you will. His lack of certifications might make you uncomfortable, but his previous work looks good. I can also say that my breasts look pretty good for the healing stage I'm in.
- He is NOT a warm and cuddly doctor. I had a lot of anxiety going into my appointments and he became visibly annoyed at some points throughout our exchange. He even blurted, "why don't you trust me? what are you even worried about?". I should have saw that as a red flag and RAN. But I didn't. I attributed it to me being overly nervous. I told myself I was being ridiculous. Thinking back, I was right to be nervous. He spent very little time with me and barely listened to any of my concerns. I felt like I was giving up all control of my body to this stranger who was angry that I didn't immediately trust him within seconds of knowing him. Again, RED FLAGS.
- His staff is 50/50. Some were very sweet, others were outright mean. The one who booked my surgery was a sweetheart. The one who removed my stitches was cold, demeaning, and curt. She ripped my tape off and made annoyed faces whenever I voiced my discomfort. I tried to sit as still as I could and didn't want to make a scene. I should have. She gave me no information about how to massage my breasts, when to start, what kind of bras to wear, etc. I felt like I was just showing up to appointments, getting stuff done to me, leaving, and then coming back for the same thing 2 weeks later. When she finally DID give me instructions on how to do it, she was rough and apparently taught me the wrong techniques. When I saw Dr. Alavi 2 weeks later, he explained that it was all wrong. So I was massaging my breasts incorrectly for 2 weeks. Yay.
- The anesthesiologist Carol was very nice and followed up with me after the surgery for many days. She was kind of a weird conversationalist and brought up politics while giving me my "cocktail" before surgery, but was nice otherwise.
- The wait times were WILD. I realized after going in to the office many times for my follow-up appointments that he was double/triple/quadruple-booking patients like crazy. Sometimes, there would be up to 5 people waiting in the waiting room for him. Keep in mind, this office is JUST FOR HIM. So he was juggling 5 patients all in the same time slots. No wonder he spent so little time with me and it took more than 45 minutes for him to get to me.
- Dr. Sassan Alavi just wants your money. He is not a caring doctor who wants to get to know you, hear your story, or listen to your concerns. Once he has some vague idea of what you want, he pushes you to make more appointments with him and then just leaves. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but it was ill-placed.
In conclusion.... he is a cold, uncaring doctor with semi-unprofessional staff. He is also only a cosmetic surgeon with an ENT background. However, his previous work profile is rather impressive. I'm not going to lie--my breasts look pretty good for just being 8 weeks out. So, it is up to you if you are willing to put up with his robotic attitude for some nice breasts. If I could go back in time, I would have spoken up about all of this and chosen a different doctor. I still can't explain to you why I just let him whisk me away into the surgery room. I think I had just been waiting for so long and was desperate to get my breasts done. Honestly, I should have been more patient.
With all that being said, good luck! I hope you find the right doctor for you. If you're uncomfortable with something or think your doctor is being shady, speak up. Listen to your instincts. Don't give money to someone you don't trust. I messed up, but it doesn't mean you have to.
