They are not discontinued and you have been mislead by your surgeon, maybe seek another surgeons opinion. It is not the shape of the implants that is linked to BIA-ALCL cancer it is the textured surface which can be both round or anatomical breast implants. The risk is however low. It is the choice of the patient which surface to choose and based on their anatomy etc as textured surface implants reduce the risk of capsular contracture and decreases they risk of the implant moving position and are less likely to ripple. Your surgeon probably just does not like anatomical implants and doesn't feel confident placing them correctly, my surgeon and others have said that anatomical implants require more skill to place and create the right pocket but they do create the most natural looking results.
