Natural Looking Breasts with Ideal Implants, 35 yr old mother of 3
WORTH IT$8,400
I am a 35-year-old mother of three children. I breastfed all of my children for one year each and after each child, I noticed my breasts shrinking and shrinking. I have been active my entire life and I never wore anything larger than a B cup bra, but I now do not even fill out my 34 A cup bra! After lots of back and forth on getting implants, I finally decided to take the plunge. The main reason was that I really wanted to feel sexy again for myself and to have the shape of a woman. Whenever I look in the mirror, I see the body of a little boy. Just ribs and nipples. I loved my breasts when I was breastfeeding and when I was about 3-6 months pregnant but I do not think they are coming back naturally.
I consulted with a few women I know who have implants and they felt the same as me post babies and all expressed happiness with their implants.
I decided that I wanted to go with the new saline implant, the Ideal Implant, for peace of mind concerning ruptures. If there is a leak, it will not be a “silent rupture” as is the case with silicone gels. In searching for surgeons who use the Ideal Implant, I came across Dr. Sowder’s blog. I instantly liked the honesty that came across in her blog posts concerning medical research, body image, plastic surgery, and breast implants. She emphasizes that she works to “restore” a mother’s body after childbirth and this is what I was looking for. If I was going to do this, I wanted it to look as natural as possible while restoring cleavage and shape but also allowing me to stay active (I’m an avid runner, yogi, and cross-trainer). When I told Dr. Sowder and the staff that my biggest fear was getting implants that were too big, they all chuckled and said that I had come to the right place. Dr. Sowder reassured me she doesn’t do “big,” she does the right size for one’s body. This was reassuring to hear. She brought out the Ideal Implant for me to feel and look at. She let me hold it and compare it to the silicone gel and there is a strong similarity. Though they are not exactly the same in feel, it was close enough for me and my peace of mind to use the Ideal Implant. We went with 230cc. I am 5'6", 120 lbs.
Surgery and Day 1
Lots of pain. Percocet and Valium really help. No nausea or vomiting. Feels like an elephant sitting on my chest. Very limited mobility with chest and arms. Need help putting on clothes and getting into bed. Mostly slept and stayed propped up in bed. Have to use my core (glad I have a strong core!) to get in and out of bed.
Day 2
Very sore. Tight all over. Still taking Percocet and Valium. Staying in bed, resting, and sleeping. Arm movements hurt as does sitting up. Cannot push myself up. Must use core and legs to stand.
Day 3
Feeling much better! Dr. Sowder called to check on me. How sweet! Decided not to take Percocet. Just trying maximum strength Tylenol. Breasts feel engorged as if my milk came in or as if I was weaning off breastfeeding. I peeked inside my bra and I like what I see. Reminds me of when I was breastfeeding. They are full and round again. No longer just ribs and nipples. Nice!
Day 4
Feeling SO much better today! I can get up out of bed without pain. I went for a brief, slow walk with my dog and felt good. My breasts feel itchy around the edges. I was able to wash my hair by putting my head down in the bathtub. Still not lifting my arms above my head or shoulders but I have much more mobility without pain.
I work from home but I was able to work in my office all day, without any problems.
Also able to drive myself to my post-op check-up with Dr. Sowder. She said my breasts and stitches look great! She gave me the okay to take brief showers and begin breast massages. She has me doing breast massages 5 times/day to soften up my breasts. It hurts a little, especially under the breast and along the side, where there is the most bruising. Taking the bra off feels good. The massaging really helps relieve some of the pressure too.
Again, I am super pleased with my results. Dr. Sowder even told me that during the operation she filled the saline implants to the max to see how they would look and noticed right away that they were much too big for my frame and reduced the saline to what we had discussed pre-op, which was about 230cc. I imagine that in about a month I will be a large B cup or a small C cup. I still think she picked the right size for me.

Thank you for posting your story! I'm scheduled in a few weeks and also have a petite frame and am in need of a boost but not huge boobs! How did your recovery go with having kids at home?

March 15, 2017
Just fine. You can't lift your children up or anything heavy for at least 2 weeks. My children are older (my youngest is in Kindergarten) so I don't lift them up anyway. They were very careful with me and gave me gentle hugs. By the third day, I was off all pain meds, aside from Tylenol, and I could walk around the house. I could also pick my kids up from school. I was able to do light cooking (no chopping or opening jars) and by the end of the week I could manage light house work. For me, the recovery was better each day. I would say by 2 weeks, I was really feeling back to normal. Good luck!

Week 2 Update
I love my new breasts! I honestly do not think anyone who did not know me well before would know that I had them done. I have shape again in my tight-fitting t-shirts and tanks. They look very natural and do remind me of being 3 months pregnant. My husband loves them too and he was skeptical about the whole thing. He says they feel very real and look great. Thumbs up to Ideal Implant!
The pain is pretty much gone. I've been doing my massages, as instructed, and this helps. I've just noticed a huge difference between this week and last week. I can also lift my arms above my head but I'm not lifting anything heavy. I am going on daily walks but no running yet.
My stitches itched a lot at the beginning of Week 2 and were still moderately sore at the site. I ice periodically but as you can see, almost all of the bruising is gone. Last week I had more numbness on the top of my right breast but this week that is almost all gone. My nipples are sensitive too. I have friends who said they had more numbness for awhile all over, but I am glad that I am still sensitive to touch and feeling.
The breasts have dropped quite a bit and feel and look more natural on me, which I like. I did try on, but did not yet purchase, some bras (for the fun of it). I was overflowing on the B cups but filled out the C cups entirely, which made me very happy. I'm sure it will depend on the bra for each person.I also tried on some old dresses that I had before I had kids and I was super excited to see that I filled out the tops without any bra on! It will be quite fun to go bra and swimsuit shopping in about a month though! No more padded bras for me!

Thanks for posting updates. Do you feel like Ideal implant feels like natural breast tissue? And do you see the implant at all? I know with women (like myself as well) who don't have much natural breast tissue or fat to begin with, the concern with saline implants is not having much to cover the implant. I'll look forward to seeing future updates. Thanks again!

I had the implant placed under the muscle so I still have some fat and breast tissue as well as muscle over the implant, which I think helps with the feel and natural look. I cannot see the implant at all through my skin. Now that the implants and the skin are much softer, the breasts move naturally too. Does the implant feel real? From the inside, not really. I can feel a little bit of sloshing if they bounce or when I'm doing breast massages. But if I'm giving myself a breast exam, as I did before the implants, well, I still feel breast tissue on top and not the implant. I hope this makes sense. My husband says that he cannot tell. If he were to think hard about it to compare, he probably could but remember, I had almost no fat there to begin with. I hope this helps!

One month update.
Feeling great! Love my breasts! Very natural looking and feeling. They are definitely softer and falling into place but they still feel part of my body and real to me and to the touch. Now that the swelling is completely gone, I can see that I definitely look like I did prior to having kids. I have shape and curves without wearing a padded bra. I have had friends tell me that they would never guess that I had them done. Again, I did not want "big" breasts as I am active and just wanted to regain a womanly shape.
Hoping to begin working out soon with some light jogging and a very good sports bra!

I can see why you're so happy...I think you got exactly what you were seeking! Wear lots of support when you start jogging. Some women will wear two sports bras at once when they first start out. Have fun getting rid of your padded bras!

Thank you for your update! I would love to see a photo with a fitted regular top on? I'm so glad I went with the ideal implants. I wanted silicone, but I don't like the silent ruptures etc. ok post op 2 days. They feel very tight
Great to hear! I'll be sure to pass along your feedback! :)
