Days 1 thru 6 - Sub-muscular Mod Plus Profile Silicone Implants 250cc/each

So, after day one, I was in so much pain! But I kept it cool, managed with with muscle relaxers and painkillers, and kept eating nutritious food. I had pretty extensive bruising from the procedure that appeared in days 3 - 4, which I have been treating with icing, and CBD massage to reduce inflammation (see photo). I straight up was hopped up on drugs for days so everything felt like a blur to be honest. I feel like a lot of folks here don't post much about bruising, but just know it is (apparently) normal!

I got taken out of the bandages after 48 hrs and pushed myself in a tight af sports bra. My doctor gave me a bandeau as well bc one of my breasts was so tense and high up (b/c of the submuscular placement). My implants have been slowly settling, the right more so than the left (the bruised side), which is normal. I've been wearing the compressing bra and bandeau as much as I can, only taking breaks to shower, to massage my swelling in my non-breast areas. Sleeping has been hard but possible.

My breasts still feel pretty tense, but have some give. I've been actually hypersensitive, which is a blessing and curse, as I'm sure you can imagine, haha. I've mitigated a lot of constipation with a fiber-friendly diet and stool softener. The bloating and swelling still happen though, so be prepared!

Looking forward to seeing what another week of healing presents me with. :)

Sub-muscular mod plus profile silicone implants 250cc/each -- 26y.o., Mixed race, 5'6", 125lbs, trans woman

To place a disclaimer -- I'm a 26y.o. Asian (mixed-race) trans woman. I've been on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) on and off for 7 years.

Despite being on HRT for so long, I had very mild breast growth, and barely could fit a padded A cup. I imagine part of this is hereditary and because I missed the type of puberty that would push me past tanner stage 3.

After much deep thinking, I decided to make the jump to get a BA to align my mind's image of myself to my body. With this surgery, I aimed to look as “natural” as possible. Because of my slighter frame, and because I don’t in particular want large boobs, I went with 250cc smooth mod plus mentor memory gel implant, placed partially under the pectoralis muscle (submuscular), after consulting with my operating surgeon, Dr. Salim and his assistant.

I love that I chose to do this for myself. I also was very lucky that my insurance has a robust plastics dept., where trans-centered healthcare is really accepted and progressive. I paid a co-pay of $340, paid around $20 for my scripts, and purchased around $200 of CBD/THC product at a dispensary specifically for recovery (I have hesitation towards narcotics, and felt this to be an apt in-between from daily painkillers to none at all. Medical cannabinoids have thus far made my day one really ‘easy’. I had little trouble slowly getting in and out of cars, bed, event managing ot warm some things on the stovetop.

I take .25 ml droplet (6.5 mg CBD + THC concentrate) sublingually “three times a day”, which really allows my muscles to keep relaxed and avoid spasms. Also helps with pain anxiety ;). After doing my own research, I also took Arnica supplements to reduce inflammation and swelling, with a women’s multivitamin, echinacea, B12 and magnesium supplements (leading up weeks before surgery). In my eyes, the women’s MV has allowed my greater energy, the echinacea and B12 is great for my immune system/nervous system, and the magnesium has helped my bones and muscle soreness (prior to surgery). Beyond pain after surgery, I can report that I DEFINITELY can feel my nipples, and at the very least pressure on my breast tissue. I’ll follow up if there is any sensation loss, but thus far, I “feel” fine.

Prior to surgery, I had to fast for 8 hrs (I fasted for 12 for extra measure, and to prevent immediate constipation from the pain meds I knew take). I could drink clear liquids up to 2 hrs before the procedure, and had a bit of apple juice and warm water as my last drinks of choice. I also abstained from alcohol and all drugs one week prior (I was a semi-frequent drinker, 2-3 drinks per week, and would occasionally indulge in other substances. If you’re curious what, please DM me and I can explain. I am not a smoker, though I crave cigs pretty frequently from when I used to smoke in HS)

When I got to the hospital, they took my info and put a sticky behind my ear with anti-nausea meds (which also dry out your mouth). They gave me 500mg of acetaminophen immediately, with an apparent pill that helps your nerves more efficient at taking painkillers. The name of that escapes me, but I’ll update ya’ll with the name if I remember.

I wiped down with the provided anti-microbial clothes on the surgical site, got into a gown, had my IV installed (my nurse was SO good, no post-IV bruising at all at the tube site, which normally is a horror show for me). She also wiped my nose out with this brown gunk that looked like iodine. I met with my anesthesiologist, who I told my medical history to. She cleared me for surgery. I asked if she could numb my throat during surgery to lower the soreness after the breasting tube. She said she’d happily do so, and she did! Always great to discuss the little things.

The intake process took a while, but their thoroughness really showed they cared. I went into the surgical room, had been moved to a small bed, prepped, and knocked out for and hour. I woke up in the recovery room crying (out of sadness, not pain!) and the nurses were so nice. Apparently I had been calling out for my late father while I was coming out of it, and I definitely felt missing him when I awoke. As an adult orphan, surgery is really scary! I felt blessed to have a wonderful friend there, plus an awesome team of nurses who calmed me. I drank tea and eventually got moved into ASU once my blood pressure seemed good. I stayed in ASU for a while, waiting on my scripts to get filled. I had packed eucalyptus oil that I sniffed if I felt nauseous, which was wonderful. I did feel a little dizzy and nauseous as I was coming out of the anesthesia. I am glad I fasted longer, because it felt like because my body didn’t have any food readily to rid of, I got through the nausea without puking.

Post-surgery, I feel tender. There is an occasional spasm (normal as the muscles heal) that jolts a little pain here or there, but I’m surprised by my mobility. My doctors and nurses even commented that I was extremely energetic compared to most of their post-BA patients. Whether it was my Virgoan regiment or my shining personality, I’m unsure. I like to think a little of both, haha! I have not notices any bruising, however, it feels like my incision pain extends farther than I thought it would. My sides and lower ribs are achy, and it’s hard to turn sometimes from the waist up. But again, I feel pretty great considering my surgery was this morning!

For comfort, I wore slip-on shoes, a pair of loose jeans, and a long-sleeve button up to the hospital. I braided my medium-length hair in two tails, which the doctor commented that he LOVED because it made it easier to fit into the surgical bonnet. Since I've gotten home, I've been wearing a loosely tied kimono (best idea ever). Makes me feel beautiful and works well when in the home.

Attached you can see some before photos, and then the after photo. I’m wrapped up in bandages until Wednesday, and am eagerly awaiting the reveal of my new chest. Hope you wait with me. <3
