Motiva Ergonomix 275cc on a 38 Yo/mom of 4/ultrarunner
WORTH IT$6,000
I've always had a small chest, and 4 pregnancies/nursing really took the life out of my breasts. Preop I was a 34A. I've also always been a runner, now competing in ultramarathons up to 100 miles. I've both wanted breasts and been worried about the effect it would have on my running, but finally bit the bullet and had several consults in my area. Dr. Sloan has long been "the guy" in my area, and he was the surgeon I felt pulled towards after several consultations. I really appreciated that he was not a salesman, or grimy in the way I've known some plastic surgeons to be. He was focused on fitting my body while being thoughtful of my end goal to be able to still race long distances competitively, and I also really liked that he uses Motiva, as it seems to be the best implant on the market. After going back and forth, I settled on the Motiva ergonomix because I wanted a natural shape and to avoid the "fake boob" look. Time from consult to surgery was about 7 weeks, and the preop appointments felt thorough and made me feel comfortable. Surgery day was really straightforward--the only discomfort I had was dealing with the anesthesia immediately after waking, I hate the disorienting feeling of it. It did feel like I had an elephant on my chest for the first few hours, but once the first round of pain meds kicked in, I felt great. I'd read a lot about how crazy the implants can look at first: conical, swollen, and high. I was pretty immediately thrilled with my results, with no weird shapes and small incision sites. It took a few weeks to get over the foreign feeling of having breasts, but I am SO happy with them already. 1 week post op I was allowed to sleep on my side, and 2 weeks post op I started light jogging. I initially wore 2 sports bras, but have dropped down to one supportive bra and am up to 30 miles/week at 4 weeks post op. I would say I'm now a full C cup, which is exactly what I was going for. If I weren't a runner I think I would've gone slightly bigger, but I'm so thrilled to be able to run without the breasts feeling like a burden.
Long story short, if you're a runner and worried about implants slowing you down, let that go. It's totally possible to bounce back quickly.
